A high-budget production has been spotted being filmed in Tampa, Florida, sparking some speculation about Rockstar’s involvement for a possible live-action GTA 6 trailer.
GTA 6 is still slated to release in Fall 2025, but Rockstar has remained mum on information about the game more than a year since the first trailer debuted in December 2023.
While fans are still eagerly awaiting a second trailer, fresh gameplay details, and more on what to expect from the next version of GTA Online, a production bearing resemblance to the chaos of GTA has turned heads as a possible indication of what’s next.
Footage of a movie crew in Tampa, Florida has surfaced, with one of the actors bearing a striking resemblance to Jason from GTA 6. To make things even more intriguing, this project appears to have some big funding behind it, further adding to its mystique.
Film crew spotted in Tampa
In a post on Reddit, a user by the name of ‘Loganzuloaga’ shared footage of Water Street in Tampa being shut down for the production.
The clip showed a group of actors crossing the street while a lime green McLaren pulls up and comes to a stop.
In another post, a man dressed like Jason from the infamous GTA 6 leaks could be seen wielding a gun while walking through the downtown area.
Tampa Bay citizens shared their own encounters with the crew, including an email claiming that Water Street was shut down for a “short film” that has a simulated carjacking. Others posted screenshots of a cop car and “dead” police officers.
Meanwhile, Film Tampa Bay teased the project on Instagram, showing a police shootout with a car being blown up.

Furthermore, Jason Blount, the founder of Tesla Bay Mod Shop, revealed that he was involved with the production and even lent some Cybertrucks for it.
“Cybertruck police shootout was insane last night,” he captioned an Instagram story, revealing that he was with the stunt team until 1AM.
Is this for a live-action GTA 6 trailer?
Given GTA 6 takes place in a satirical version of Florida, Leonida, there is a possibility that Rockstar may be involved in this project, but it’s still too early to say for certain. Here’s what we do have to go off though.
Two days after the shoot, Charlie Shrem, an influencer in the cryptocurrency space, confirmed his involvement alongside his partner, local actress Courtney Warner. This led to a great deal of speculation the shoot was for a crypto project of sorts.
Shrem soon debunked this theory, however, following up to confirm “it’s not a crypt project. [Courtney] is an actress and I was cast as an extra,” he said.
Meanwhile, an alleged Floridian on Reddit claimed to have been in the area on the day of the shoot. While a brand new account on the platform, they backed up their claim with an original image of the green sportscar on the day of filming.
“I asked multiple people about what it was for and [they] all said GTA 6,” the user claimed. “I heard GTA 6 from everyone I chatted with downtown.”
For now, it’s obviously worth taking these details with a grain of salt. Despite the similarities to GTA, this production could very well be for anything, from a brand’s advertisement to an indie movie, it’s really anyone’s guess.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted with any further developments as new details emerge.
