A former Rockstar Games director has revealed when fans could expect a gameplay trailer for GTA 6 following the devs’ “smart” decision to shadow drop trailer two.
Despite plenty of ‘confidence’ from Take-Two about Grand Theft Auto 6 being released in 2025, Rockstar Games finally broke fans’ hearts in early May by announcing a delay until May 25, 2026.
The delay, which had been rumored for a while, will give the Grand Theft Auto developers more time to polish things. However, despite announcing the delay, they did give fans something they’ve waited quite some time for – a second trailer.
That new trailer revealed more about the story, including Jason and Lucia’s relationship, a whole host of side characters, as well as other locations around Vice City and Leonida. The almost three-minute-long trailer was accompanied by almost 100 screenshots too, which have set the internet ablaze.
Ex-Rockstar director touches on GTA 6 trailer 2 release
Fans are eagerly anticipating a gameplay trailer now, hoping to see the two main characters in action, especially as there are hints of heists returning.
According to former Rockstar Games technical director Obbe Vermeij, that third trailer might not come for a while, though.
“Since we’re still over a year from release, I would think they want to fix all the glitches with animations, weapon changes, getting in and out of car first,” he responded to one fan. “Not for a while I think.”

Vermeij, who worked on GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, and GTA IV, also pointed out the surprise release of the new trailer was a “smart” move from Rockstar.
“I think it’s a smart move. Make people forget about the delay and focus on the game again,” he added.
