GTA 6 fans convinced “potato” Xbox Series S won’t be able to cope

Two men pulling faces

Xbox Series S owners have revealed their concerns over how the console will run GTA 6, with many worried that the budget console could struggle.

On April 6, Rockstar Games released a new trailer for GTA 6, leaving fans stunned with the game’s amazing graphics. Many viewers even went as far as to call GTA 6’s graphics “the best” they’ve ever seen.

As mentioned in our hidden details article, GTA 6 features realistic lighting, with reflections bouncing off car windows and other surfaces. Hell, even beer bottles have realistic bubbles that float to the surface.

Things get even crazier when Rockstar revealed that the new GTA 6 trailer was captured using a base PS5. As you can imagine, this has many PlayStation fans excited, while PC players are eager to see how beefy rigs can handle this new era of Vice City.

However, Xbox Series S players have been left worried about how Microsoft’s console will handle these improved graphics.

Xbox Series S owners reveal GTA 6 concerns

“I’m dying to know how GTA 6 looks on Series S,” wrote one fan on X. “If it’s ONLY 30FPS on PS5 and Series X, or even the f*cking Pro, what compromises have they taken to make it run on the S?

Other commenters joked about how the console would struggle to cope under the weight of GTA 6’s graphical improvements.

“Series S owners should be charged with crimes against gaming. That little potato is going to explode the second you click play on GTA 6.”

So, why are Xbox Series S owners so worried? Well, it all comes down to the console’s performance capabilities. Firstly, the Xbox Series S does not support native 4K, instead, the console can only upscale to 4K.

The Series S also has a much weaker GPU and CPU than the base PS5, which means you can expect a much smoother gameplay experience on Sony’s console when venturing around Vice City. The Series S also only comes with 512GB of storage, compared to the base PS5’s 825 GB storage.

While we don’t know how big GTA 6 will be, we know that Red Dead Redemption 2 took up approximately 120GB on PS5. With GTA 6 promising to be Rockstar’s most ambitious game to date, we can expect the game to take up considerable storage space.

So, Xbox Series S owners may be forced to uninstall other games or purchase more storage. Of course, we’ll need to wait until 26 May 2026 to see how GTA 6 runs on the Series S. For all the latest news and updates on GTA 6, be sure to check out our hub
