GTA 6 map locations in real life, from Miami Beach to the Florida Keys

Vice City sign in GTA 6

GTA 6 is set in a fictional version of Florida, but that doesn’t mean that some real-life landmarks and locations haven’t made their way into the long-awaited sequel.

After months of radio silence, the floodgates have finally opened on GTA 6 news. First, the delayed release date was announced, before Rockstar showed off Trailer 2, featuring plenty of details about the main story and characters.

It also gave us our closest look yet at the map, which is set in Vice City, Leonida, a fictional city and state based on Miami, Florida. As you’d expect, plenty of real locations have made their way into the game, so here’s each one we’ve spotted so far.

Downtown Miami

  • Vice City in GTA 6
1 of 2

Let’s get the most obvious one out of the way, the sprawling metropolis of Vice City is GTA 6’s version of Downtown Miami. This is likely where you’ll spend most of your time, tearing up the streets and causing chaos.

Kaseya Center

  • The Sahara Arena in GTA 6
1 of 2

Buried within Vice City is a huge stadium that can only be the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami Heat basketball team in real life. The shape of the building is unmistakable, although it’s been rebranded the Sahara Arena and the team has been renamed the Vice City Narcos.

E11EVEN nightclub

  • Nine 1 Nine club in GTA 6
1 of 2

During the second trailer, Jason and Lucia can be seen dancing at a club called NINE 1 NINE, which is a clear nod to the real E11EVEN nightclub in Downtown Miami. There are a few shots that take place here, so don’t be surprised if you spend a lot of time here when GTA 6 arrives.

Miami Beach

  • Miami Beach
1 of 2

Another fairly easy location to spot in GTA 6, the golden sands of Vice City are heavily inspired by Miami Beach. It also appeared in 2002’s GTA: Vice City, but this time you’ll be able to see every grain of sand.

Tresor Tower

It’s not just major landmarks that Rockstar are cramming into GTA 6, but also specific buildings that dominate the skyline. As pointed out by Reddit user ‘SynSvn,’ a luxury apartment and pool seen in the first trailer is actually the same as a penthouse found at the top of Tresor Tower in Miami Beach.

Ocean Drive

  • Ocean Drive in GTA 6
1 of 2

Just next to the beach is Ocean Drive, Miami’s infamous strip that’s plastered with neon signs and bursting with life. This is where the party is at its liveliest, so don’t be surprised to see Jason and Lucia spending plenty of time here.

Florida Keys

  • Florida Keys in GTA 6
1 of 2

It wouldn’t be Florida without the Florida Keys, and the tropical islands are fully explorable in GTA 6. Named the Leonida Keys, this is one of the most picturesque spots the map has to offer and is also the home of protagonist Jason.

Rain Barrel Village

  • Rain Barrel Village in GTA 6
1 of 2

Rain Barrel Village is a tourist hotspot within the Florida Keys, with plenty of shops, souvenirs, and, of course, Betsy the Lobster. A location that looks very similar can be seen in the shared images of Leonida, only the iconic statue has been replaced with a whale.

Venetian Causeway

  • Venetian Causeway in GTA 6
1 of 2

One of the most well-known stretches of road in Miami, the Venetian Causeway connects Miami Beach with the city itself. It can be pinpointed by the toll booths at the end, not that you’ll notice them when you’re hurtling down it at 150mph.

Florida State Prison

  • Prison in GTA 6
1 of 2

No GTA game is complete without a prison to infiltrate, and Florida State Prison is confirmed to appear, it’s likely to have been renamed ‘Leonida State Prison’ or something similar. Not only will this be a landmark, but it’s also a key part of the story, as Lucia is released from the penitentiary near the start of the game.

WTVY-TV tower

  • WTVY-TV in GTA 6
1 of 2

One of the community’s favorite pastimes in Grand Theft Auto games is jumping off the tallest thing you can find, and the WTVY-TV tower could be the perfect spot for that in GTA 6. This huge TV tower stands at 1,901ft and is Florida’s tallest structure — ideal for getting a good look at the rest of the map.

Panama City

  • Port Gellhorn in GTA 6
1 of 2

It’s tough to pinpoint exactly where Port Gellhorn is inspired by, but all signs are pointing towards Panama City. The architecture is very similar, and the description of “Leonida’s forgotten coast” could apply, since the real-life city is located by the sea, but is some distance away from the bustling Miami.

Everglades

  • Grassrivers in GTA 6
1 of 2

While it may not be an exact recreation, the Grassrivers portion is clearly heavily inspired by Florida’s Everglades, but with far more locals to run into. You’ll need a boat to get around quickly, just watch out for alligators.

Clewiston

  • Amborisa in GTA 6
1 of 2

The industrial Ambrosia is another area that’s tough to nail down, as Rockstar often combines elements from multiple places when building their maps. That being said, the shot of the Allied Crystal sugar refinery closely resembles the U.S Sugar refinery in Clewiston, suggesting that it might be a mix of cities surrounding Lake Okeechobee.

Grand Theft Auto 6’s map is set to be absolutely huge, so there’s likely even more real-life locations hidden in there that haven’t been spotted yet. It’s also worth noting that Rockstar haven’t officially mentioned what their inspirations were for each area, so this is all based on our own research.

We’ll be sure to keep this page updated as more trailers and screenshots emerge.

In the meantime, take a look at all the activities seen in the trailers, and all of the weapons confirmed so far.
