Insider unsure GTA 6 will actually launch in May 2026

Gaming insider Tom Henderson is unsure if Grand Theft Auto 6 will release in May 2026, especially given the rumors around it.

At the start of May, Rockstar Games delivered a blow to Grand Theft Auto fans by announcing that GTA 6 wouldn’t be released in 2025. Instead, they pencilled in May 26, 202, as the new release date.

According to the developers, the delay is much needed. “With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve,” they said.

With Rockstar being quiet on GTA 6 since then, there have been some suggestions that the game will be delayed even further into late 2026.

Tom Henderson “cannot see” GTA 6 releasing in May 2026

Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson believes that the highly anticipated release might slide from the May 26, 2026, release point.

“To be honest, I don’t think that it is gonna release in May. For some reason, I just cannot see GTA 6 releasing in May,” Henderson said on Insider Gaming’s weekly podcast. “You know, all the rumblings and so on just doesn’t seem to suggest it. Not got enough to corroborate or report on it, so don’t put this on Reddit.”

The panel pointed to Hollow Knight: Silksong burning down Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation on release as something Rockstar will want to consider, especially with pre-loading.

“I think Rockstar have proven time and time again that they’re perfectionists. GTA is such a monumental game that anything that is wrong with it, even the slightest bug like your character clips outside of a door or whatever, the media is going to run with that and make it seem like an incredibly bad thing,” Henderson added.

It is important to stress that Henderson noted he isn’t reporting a delay, and it is only his belief that the release date will change. He hasn’t been able to corroborate that belief into a full exclusive.

Despite that, the comment has left some Grand Theft Auto fans worried about GTA 6’s release date.

“Still quite a worrying statement with how credible and in the know he is,” one said.

“Another delay would do nothing but make people lose more faith and further the narrative that it ‘can’t live up to expectations’,” another said.

“It’s going to sell regardless of the time period. I take this with a grain of salt,” argued another.
