Marvel Rivals players say people aren’t playing Human Torch correctly when using him to attack from a distance.
Johnny Storm joined Marvel Rivals as yet another flight-based character alongside the likes of Iron Man and Storm.
Some players have argued that his Season 1.5 introduction has unleashed a new flying meta, one which feels difficult to combat. However, others believe playing Human Torch like his flying counterparts is a mistake.
Attacking from the skies as Iron Man would doesn’t work quite as well for users trying to familiarize themselves with Human Torch’s skills. And one player has already figured out why.
Marvel Rivals players warn against playing Human Torch “wrong”
In a video detailing the best way to approach Human Torch gameplay, TikToker PlayerOrb argues many players are going about it all wrong.
“Johnny isn’t meant to be played like Iron Man or Storm,” the user explained since he deals more damage at close range, such that he can take out foes in two or three hits.
The Fantastic Four character’s damage output becomes less effective from longer distances; thus, the TikToker says the “best strat” is for Human Torch players to occupy the midline behind their tanks on the ground.
Several Marvel Rivals fans in the comments agreed, with one user saying that people only think Human Torch is bad because “they’re playing him like Iron Man.”
Another person said they’ve similarly realized Human Torch’s strengths and weaknesses: “I had to learn this real fast! Because flying in the air with him is kinda useless tbh…”
Still, not everyone’s convinced this will make him the most valuable hero on the field given his questionable survivability. Reads one such comment, “He needs at minimum another 50 health to be viable in higher skilled lobbies. He’s just not good.”
