Marvel Rivals players convinced Peni Parker fix actually nerfed her

One Marvel Rivals update fixed a Peni Parker exploit, but players believe the changes “overstepped” and created new problems.

The hero shooter’s March 13 patch featured a host of buffs and nerfs for several characters, including Human Torch, The Thing, and Peni Parker.

In particular, the Peni Parker changes targeted an exploit that turned her Arachno-Mines invisible when they landed outside her Cyber-Webs. It was a much-needed tweak since the exploit prevented enemy players from spotting planted mines under certain circumstances.

However, Marvel Rivals players think the adjustment may have overcorrected the issue and are now calling for another patch.

Marvel Rivals users say update made Peni Parker worse

A fan in the game’s subreddit pointed out that NetEase fixed the mines exploit by ensuring they remain visible for a set period after landing in Cyber-Webs. “This is problematic because it vastly reduces Peni’s in-combat lethality,” they wrote.

The problem is that the mines now feel ineffective in too many combat scenarios. For example, Peni can no longer launch mines into the Cloak and Dagger Ultimate.

Placing them near The Thing is asking for trouble because “he keeps destroying them before they turn invisible.” Launching mines in the middle of shootouts doesn’t engender the desired effects, either.

As such, the original poster and several others in the thread want NetEase to revert the tweaks, at least enough to make Peni Parker’s mines viable again.

Several responses said the Reddit post helped them realize why Peni mines ability suddenly “feel[s] less lethal.”

Another person in the comments lamented, “They gutted her with the bug fixes by making her more buggy.”

And others believe Peni Parker as a whole is due for a rework, because of other shortcomings like her “underpowered” Ultimate attack.

NetEase developers haven’t responded to the complaints, so it’s unclear if players should expect a fix anytime soon.
