Marvel Rivals players vindicated after patch confirms match-ruining Magneto ult bug

Marvel Rivals players who’d been complaining about a potential bug involving the Magneto ult feel vindicated following the Season 1.5 patch notes.

Like other playable characters, Magneto’s ultimate ability, Meteor M, represents his most powerful attack. It uses the character’s powers of magnetism to construct an iron meteor that deals massive amounts of damage to enemies – or at least it should.

For weeks, Marvel Rivals players reported issues with the ultimate, even sharing gameplay footage that showed the ball of iron passing straight through unmoving foes.

Some people assumed it may have been a case of user error, while others were convinced the Magneto power was bugged. Patch notes for the next major update have finally set the record straight.

Marvel Rivals update will fix frustrating Magneto ult bug

The release notes for the Season 1.5 patch acknowledge the Magneto bug and confirm that the problem will be resolved once the update arrives on Friday, February 21.

Importantly, the Magneto-specific note reads, “Addressed an issue where Magneto’s ultimate could pass through characters without dealing damage due to discrepancies between collision models and visual effects. The collision body is now properly optimized to better suit the visual presentation.”

As such, attacks with Magneto’s ultimate should no longer look like wild misfires. And players who previously thought they were at fault can now breathe easy.

In a Reddit thread about the bug fix, players expressed relief that they hadn’t gone “crazy.” Reads one response, “I had this happen the other day! Meteor went straight through a bi***! Glad to know I wasn’t crazy.”

Another person feels especially vindicated after previously being scolded by teammates for missing easy kills. “Okay, so I wasn’t just going f***ing insane then lmao. I was getting roasted by my team that I didn’t get a kill from a Magneto ult when I was hitting them dead-on on my screen.”

Others called out fellow Redditors for gaslighting players into thinking they were just bad at the game when sharing footage of the bug.

In addition to bug fixes, the Season 1.5 update will also introduce Human Torch and The Thing as playable characters.
