TimTheTatman becomes number one ranked Marvel Rivals player, but there’s a catch

TimTheTatman is technically listed as the number one ranked Marvel Rivals player, but it helps to be well-connected.

Marvel Rivals’ competitive game mode features nine ranks. Players start in Bronze and earn points for winning matches with the ultimate goal of reaching One Above All, which recognizes the top 500 players.

Initially, ranks were scheduled to drop by six divisions at the start of every new season and four divisions every half-season, but players slammed the decision. NetEase listened to community feedback and removed the mid-season reset.

This means players keep their rank from the start of Season 1 until Season 2, which we expect to start on April 11. With the latter half of this season well underway, there is an established top 500 with some of the best players in the game, and that now miraculously includes TimTheTatman.

TimTheTatman flexes number one rank in Marvel Rivals

TimTheTatman explained that GURU is currently the top-ranked player in Marvel Rivals, so he gifted him 100 subs to change his name to TimTheTatman, making it look like he is the number one player in the world.

“Number one in the world, we made it,” TimTheTatman joked. “It was a tough grind, but we got there. I’m happy to be the number one in the world. Thank you for all of the support.”

Tim played into the bit and changed his stream title to number 1 Marvel Rivals Player. For reference, the price of 100 gifted subscriptions on Twitch is around $500.

With hundreds of hours in both Overwatch and now Marvel Rivals, Tim is by no means a slouch for competitive matches. But don’t expect to see the gameplay quality of the actual number-one ranked player if you tune into Tim’s stream.
