A Minecraft player who has been walking endlessly to reach the ‘end’ of the map is finally close to his goal.
Minecraft often feels like a cozy game, especially since you can use the best mods and just let your creativity take over to build whatever you want. But beyond all that, there are some things that can look a little… eerie, in a way. Like the “Far Lands”, for example.
For over a decade, a YouTuber known as KurtJMac has been on a mission to complete one extremely challenging task, which involves reaching this distorted-looking location.
Unlike normal terrain, the Far Lands were the result of a terrain generation bug in older versions of Minecraft, appearing exactly 12,550,821 blocks from the spawn point. After all these years, the YouTuber’s journey is finally drawing closer to setting foot here.
Dedicated Minecraft player is finally reaching the Far Lands after over a decade
KurtJMac first began his long trek to the Far Lands in 2011 with his series Far Lands or Bust. He is especially notable for his long-running, fully on-foot Survival mode journey, one of the first widely documented attempts in that style.

His goal wasn’t just to document his journey tackling this challenge, but to raise funds for various charities at the same time.
Recently, content creator AntVenom pointed out that Kurt may be close to his final steps. AntVenom calculated this by observing Kurt’s coordinates whenever he pressed the F3 debug menu and estimating the distance left.
As he explained: “How many hours did Kurt spend walking between his last two F3 presses, and how many hours has he walked since his last F3 press?” He admitted that this was “difficult” to do, given that Kurt had only pressed F3 12 times in 14 years, but ultimately, he was able to pull the final numbers from estimates.

According to AntVenom, Kurt is about 200,000 blocks away from setting foot on the Far Lands. In terms of how long he’ll finally reach it, the creator estimated that Kurt is “less than 24 hours” from completing his journey, and should be able to get there “somewhere around episode 60” of his series if he averages three hours per stream as he’s been doing.
Far Lands have been patched in the newest version of Minecraft, but it’s still famous within the community as it’s known as one of the game’s well-known glitches.
And while not the true end of the world, the Far Lands became its stand-in, given that this is the boundary where the map’s terrain starts to glitch into chaos, making the area look like a massive wall with tunnels and chasms.
