Everything coming to Minecraft’s Copper Age update

Minecraft the copper age

Minecraft’s new Game Drop is almost upon us, bringing a variety of adorable features from the adorable Copper Golem, a new chest, and so much more.

The beauty of Minecraft is its creativity, but that creativity is often stunted when there’s not the right block for your new house, or fun trials to explore during your hunt for diamonds… and they do say no house is a home without a dog (or a pet wolf on this occasion). Luckily, Mojang’s regular updates grant exactly that, from new blocks to immersive features that will bring your world to life.

The Copper Age Game Drop is no different, and we finally know all it has to offer. So, here’s all you need to know about the next Minecraft Game Drop.

Do we know when The Copper Age Game Drop will release?

Unfortunately, there’s no release date for The Copper Age Game Drop just yet. All we know is that it’ll be coming “later this year.”

However, it’s currently available to test out in the Java Snapshot and Bedrock Beta, so you can technically play the update now.

Expected release time

Of course, since we’re yet to have a release date, any release time is purely speculation. However, we can use the two previous Game Drops to predict the timings.

Both the Chase the Skies, Spring To Life, and the Garden Awakens Game Drops were released at 11 AM ET, which is 8 AM PT. So, we expect it to drop around this time for The Copper Age, too.

Everything announced for The Copper Age

As it goes with most Game Drops for Minecraft, these serve as regular, smaller updates rather than a massive event. As such, there won’t be tons of new features, but we’ll still see new mobs, blocks, and chests.

Copper Golem, Chest, & Statue

The biggest addition coming in The Copper Age is the Copper Golem, Chest, and Copper Statue. Each is brand new to the game and offers a variety of new features.

Copper Golem & Copper Chest

The Copper Golem is an adorable, much smaller golem that will roam around your base organizing your items. They’ll spawn in with a Copper Chest, and once you place your items inside, the golem will take them out and sort your items to where they need to be.

The Chest isn’t any bigger than a normal wooden one; it solely works to help the golem sort it.

Copper Statue

As it goes with Copper, it’ll eventually oxidize, which is where we get that turquoise color. When a Copper Golem completes its oxidization, it’ll turn into a Copper Statue, assuming one of three poses.

Of course, you can always scrape it with an axe to wake the golem up, or you can have a brand new statue for your home.

Copper tools & armor

Alongside the golems and chests, we’re getting a brand new equipment tier… Copper! As per, these contain a copper pickaxe, copper axe, copper hoe, copper shovel, and a copper sword.

In terms of power, they’re slightly stronger than stone, so they’re ideal to tide you over while you search for iron.

Copper armor and tools

The same goes for armor. You can now make a copper helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots, and horse armor. This isn’t as strong as iron, but it’ll still save you from those zombies in the first few nights.

Decorative Copper Blocks & Shelves

For all the builders out there, you can revel in the fact that we now have new copper lanterns, torches, chains, and bars.

Naturally, all of these will oxidize unless you wax them to keep them copper forever. So, you can have a variety of different colors for your items now as they change over time.

On top of this, shelves are finally a thing in Minecraft! Players can craft shelves to display up to three items at one time. Though, just like chests, you can connect several shelves to make them as long as you need.

They also allow you to hotbar swap. So, if you need to swap out what you’re holding for the sword on your shelf, one click will do just that. Or, if you’re technical with redstone, you can swap up to nine items at once.

Dyes

Nothing is worse than accidentally using the wrong dye on your favorite sheep or carpet. Well, that will now be a thing of the past (as long as you don’t accidentally shift over on your hotbar), thanks to the brand new redesign of Dyes.

Now, instead of all looking the same, Mojang has completely revamped the icons to make them easier to identify.
