Best NBA 2K25 Dribble moves, styles & playmaking animations

Kyrie Irving dribbling in NBA 2K25/.

Dribbling received a big rework in NBA 2K25, and to make sure that your handles feel responsive, it’s essential to use the best dribble moves, styles, and playmaking animations possible.

Becoming a skilled ball handler requires a lot of practice in NBA 2K25, but no amount of mastery is going to make up for a terrible set of animations. If your dribble moves are slow and easy for defenders to stop, they are useless and a complete waste of VC.

For guards, this can single-handedly ruin your build, as dribbling is one of your main methods of getting open and creating good looks. However, wings and even big men can benefit from using the best animations too, as tall builds can now get high playmaking stats and unlock several meta moves.

To help you avoid missing out on the fun, we’ve put together this list of the best dribble moves in NBA 2K25, which you can use alongside the best jumpshots and contact dunks to create a truly dominant build, both inside and outside the arc.

Best Dribble Styles

Here’s a table with the best Dribble Styles in NBA 2K25:

Dribble StyleStat requirementHeight requirement

Guard builds with elite ball handling will want to use either Russell Westbrook or Darius Garland, as these are the best in the game, offering unrivalled speed. Both are exceptional choices, so we recommend trying them out in your MyCourt to see which works best for you.

Wing builds with reasonable Speed With Ball should opt for Devin Booker or James Harden, as these can be used on taller builds and are still fairly fast.

Finally, builds with low ball handling will want to use Zion Williamson, an extremely good package that can be used with a low Speed With Ball stat to an extent where even 7’0″ Centers can equip it.

Russell Westbrook Dribble Style

Russell-Westbrook NBA2K5
  • Requirements: 87 Speed With Ball (SWB), under 6’5”

Westbrook’s dribble style is built for players who want to explode past defenders with insane speed and sharp direction changes.

If you’re a smaller guard or point looking to get downhill fast and attack the rim relentlessly, this is your go-to. It’s aggressive and perfect for breaking ankles and getting buckets in transition.

Darius Garland Dribble Style

  • Requirements: 85 SWB, under 6’5”

Garland’s dribble style is super smooth and super responsive.

If you love chaining together slick combos and making defenders guess your next move, this is it. It doesn’t require elite speed like Westbrook’s but still gives you tight control, fast movement, and just the right amount of flash.

Devin Booker Dribble Style

Devin Booker NBA2K5
  • Requirements: 80 SWB, under 6’10”

Booker’s dribble package is the sweet spot for taller guards and wings.

It only takes an 80 SWB to equip and works for players up to 6’9”, which makes it one of the best all-around options for scoring off the bounce. It has solid control and good speed, so you can handle the ball comfortably without sacrificing your height or build.

James Harden Dribble Style

James-Harden NBA2K5
  • Requirements: 75 SWB, under 6’10”

Harden’s dribble style is not lightning-fast, but it’s tricky.

Perfect for those taller playmakers who don’t have crazy SWB but still want to sauce up defenders with hesitations, stepbacks, and slow-fast combos. It’s great for setting up ISO plays or manipulating defenders into biting on fakes.

Zion Williamson Dribble Style

  • Requirements: 60 SWB, at least 6’5”

Zion’s dribble style is hands-down the best for bigs who want to get mobile.

If you’re rocking a forward or center build and still want to push the pace or drive to the basket, this one’s a must. You’ll get better handling, smoother movement, and more control than most other big man styles.

Best Passing Styles

Passing StyleStat requirement

Both Mike Conley and Tyrese Haliburton have fantastic passing styles that feature fast animations, making them much harder to intercept. Guards with lower playmaking stats, Point Forwards, and Glass Cleaners should use Magic Johnson instead, a new Passing Style added in NBA 2K25 that is easily one of the best in the game.

Most other builds should settle for Ja Morant, as it features great animations despite requiring a relatively low Pass Accuracy stat to unlock. Finally, those with low passing should just stick to the default None Pass Style, which is unspectacular but serviceable.

Best Motion Styles

Motion StyleHeight requirement

For most guards, Alex Caruso is the best Motion Style in NBA 2K25, as it has a very fast base movement speed on shorter builds. However, Mike Conley is another good option, with both being comparable to one another.

Wing builds should opt for either Drew Eubanks or Bam Adebayo, as these players perform similarly. Both are fast Motion Styles that will help you get around the court more easily. Finally, big men will want to use Pascal Siakam, which remains the meta option for big men, just like it was last year.
