An underrated Overwatch 2 Support hero was given a buff in the mid-season 15 update that could see him become the new go-to character in that role.
Over the years, Blizzard have carefully put together a diverse character roster, all with unique strengths and abilities. While some are naturally going to be better than others in different scenarios, the truth is that every hero can shine in the right hands.
So, although certain picks are often overlooked by the community, they can still be deadly if you know how to use them. Lifeweaver was firmly in this category for much of Season 15, but after a buff in the mid-season update, he’s ready to find a place in the meta.
Lifeweaver is top-tier Support after major buff
The March 18 patch focused heavily on Perks, looking to balance many of the effects that were considered too strong or weak. Plenty of heroes benefitted from the changes, but Lifeweaver was arguably the biggest winner.
Both of his Major Perks were given substantial buffs, the biggest of which was given to Superbloom. After players were finding it hard to trigger the damage bonus when firing thorns, the ability now does 40 damage instead of 30 and has a more forgiving window of 2.5 seconds.
This comes with the slight drawback of having to land 20 hits instead of 16 to cause the explosion, but overall it gives the Support hero a great offensive boost towards the end of matches.

Lifeweaving also received an upgrade, as Rejuventing Dash now adds 30 healing to your next Healing blossom rather than 20.
One of the biggest criticisms of Lifeweaver has been that he doesn’t do enough healing, as you have to charge up a Healing Blossom for a short while to do any meaningful heals. This buff helps solve that problem, giving you the option to dash for a healing boost to help save an ally in need.

Unfortunately, you can’t run both these Perks together as they’re both Majors, but what these changes have done is made Lifeweaver one of the most versatile Supports in the game, able to become more of a damage dealer or healer depending on the situation.
If you’ve got a Mercy who can handle keeping the team alive, you can essentially use him as a third DPS by picking Superbloom, which could help you overwhelm the opposing team. On the other hand, if things are going badly, you can pick Lifeweaving to provide much-needed healing.
With all this in mind, don’t be surprised to see Lifeweaver dominating matches in both Quick Play and Competitive as we head towards Season 16.
