Overwatch 2 players baffled by low quality skins on Nintendo Switch

Overwatch players on Nintendo Switch left the community dumbfounded after showing off how poor in-game skins look on hardware from eight years ago.

In 2019, Overwatch was finally released on the Nintendo Switch before being upgraded to OW2 with all other versions of the hero shooter.

While the game ran great on PCs and last-gen consoles, it got a boost on PS5 and Xbox Series X when those systems were released.

The Switch, meanwhile, hasn’t fared as well and it has some Nintendo fans hoping that the Switch 2 will be for a better experience when playing Overwatch, especially with how some skins appear.

Overwatch 2 Switch skins mocked

The conversation started after X user ‘lesbianillari’ was excited to get a Symmetra Infernal Witch skin in a loot box. However, some users were shocked by the quality of the skin.

The screenshot shows the Infernal Witch skin, but with far less detail than what fans see on PC and other consoles.

Another user replied with a picture of the Lifeweaver Cleric skin looking similar to the lower-quality Symmetra one.

Players not used to seeing Overwatch on the Nintendo console were left baffled and wondering how the rest of the game even plays.

“Need to see what happens when 2 Ramattras ult at the same time on Switch,” one joked, referencing the tank hero’s ultimate ability.

“I booted it up on my Switch and did a practice match vs AI (didn’t wanna try a real match on it). First fight on Rialto had it chugging to low 20s,” another chimed in.

Others claimed the game runs much worse on a Switch Lite than a standard version, but were hopeful that the Switch 2 would offer a better time graphically.

While the Switch is technically a handheld port of Overwatch, new reports have indicated that the game will be getting a mobile MOBA version down the line with the title being referred to internally as Overwatch 3.
