Overwatch 2 players can’t believe these OP Damage heroes got another buff

Overwatch 2 characters running

The mid-Season 15 update for Overwatch 2 came with plenty of changes to hero Perks, but players are baffled that these already strong DPS characters were handed a buff.

When Perks were introduced at the start of Season 15, it was inevitable that they were going to need adjusting down the line. After adding so many game-changing effects at once, there was always going to be some balancing required to keep matches fair.

This finally arrived in the March 18 mid-season patch, which brought a ton of changes across the board. But while the nerfs to Bastion and Torbjorn were welcomed by players, buffs to both Pharah and Genji left them confused.

The patch brought a change to Pharah’s Helix Shields Perk, which allows her to convert health into shields. After the update, she can now convert 125 instead of 75, making her much tougher to kill while in the air and improving her self-sustainability without having to return to the ground to heal.

Pharah was already a cause of frustration for many players, as her ability to fly made her hard to hit and easy to forget about in the heat of battle. So, increasing her survivability only makes matters worse.

Meanwhile, Genji was given major buffs to his Perks, despite being a devastating DPS with insane mobility. Meditation allows him to heal 35 health per second, up from 25, and the window for Blade Twisting’s damage before was made more forgiving to make it easier to chain attacks together.

Of course, players who main these two DPS heroes are no doubt delighted with the changes, but those who have to try and counter them have been left frustrated, as they were already tough to tackle.

“Pharah Helix Shields being increased? Do you just want to make Pharamercy more annoying to deal with? Why did this need a buff?” asked one player on Reddit.

“Developers previously admitted that Pharah and Ana benefited most from perks, so why haven’t they been restricted?” added another. “Pharah even received buffs, along with heroes like Genji who are clearly not underpowered.”

What makes these buffs even more confusing is the heroes have been left untouched by the update, with the likes of Ana, Sojourn, and Tracer all escaping nerfs. We’ll have to wait and see if these characters, who have dominated the season so far, are balanced in the Season 16 update expected on April 22.
