Overwatch 2 has just given Venture a minor visual update but players aren’t so keen with the new change.

Overwatch 2 has just dropped its midseason 15 update, bringing the highly anticipated LE SSERAFIM collab in the game that comes with a limited-time event, allowing you to unlock free rewards from challenges.

Some heroes were also given tweaks as part of the balance changes to spice things up. Among these additions, however, there’s one undocumented change that many players have started to notice since the patch went live.

Apparently, Venture was given a little bit of an “update” in terms of visuals.

Overwatch 2 players prefer the old Venture hero portrait compared to the new one

For those unaware, Venture has just gotten a new portrait in the Hero Gallery. Technically, they are still seen with the same pose and expression, so it’s not exactly that the portrait has been entirely overhauled.

But keen-eyed players have quickly pointed out in a Reddit thread that the lightning has been changed, making them look different – and not in a good way.

While some defended the new picture as looking brighter, more “polished,” and suiting the Overwatch 2 aesthetics more, blending in with the other portraits, the majority of players are convinced it looks “off.”

One user wrote, “I noticed it immediately and was disgusted by what they did to my main. Why did they completely ruin it? It was perfect before!!”

“I knew I wasn’t the only one who noticed. I think they’re trying to make it blend in with the other portraits better, but the lighting is off,” said another.

A different user suggested that the portrait would look much better if the highlights were darkened. “Right now, it just looks like they blasted a spotlight on them,” they added.

Either way, overall, it’s clear that many players aren’t fans of this change, as they’ve pointed out that the new lighting is “too much.”
