Blizzard EntertainmentLoot boxes have finally returned to Overwatch 2 in Season 15, and players are in awe over a new cosmetic type added to them.
Overwatch 2 reintroduced loot boxes to the sequel after much demand from players who wanted the game to feel more “rewarding.”
They’re back in a big way, too. In Season 15, players can earn over 100 loot boxes and a ridiculous amount of cosmetics by just playing or participating in Twitch drops and a Discord program.
That’s not all, though. As players soon found out when Season 15 went live, these new loot boxes contain special legendary items that they had no idea would be included.
Overwatch 2 adds legendary weapon skins to loot boxes
Across social media, players were thrilled to find out that in addition to hero skins, sprays and other cosmetic goodies, they could also find weapon skins in their loot boxes.
One surprised user posted their lucky loot box to Reddit, revealing they’d unlocked Junkrat’s Los Muertos frag launcher skin.
“WHAAAAAT?!?! WEAPON SKINS COUNT?!?!?!” one baffled user exclaimed.
“You have no idea how happy this post made me. I’m dying to get Soldier 76 weapon skin (Los Muertos) and was wondering if it can be obtained from loot boxes,” another chimed in. “I am so happy right now.”
This wasn’t the only player to show off their insane luck. As it turns out, even the Hard Light weapons can be found in loot boxes.

Twitch streamer Aspen had her mind blown after earning Reaper’s Hard Light shotgun skin in a loot box, leaving others totally jealous.
“I always wanted those hard light weapons, but I hated the price,” a fan replied.
So far, the return of loot boxes has been extremely well-received, and it’s not the only thing that Overwatch players have to be excited about.
Season 15’s patch also added hero perks that give characters powerful new abilities, along with an assortment of other features including a rank reset.
