Underrated Overwatch 2 tank is unkillable with this insane Perk combo

OW2 characters fighting

Overwatch 2 players are sleeping on this overpowered tank, whose virtually invincible with the right combination of Perks.

The introduction of Perks has completely changed the meta in Overwatch 2. These game-changing effects have made certain heroes much easier to counter, while also taking other characters that were struggling to make an impact and giving them a new lease of life.

One of the biggest beneficiaries was Junker Queen, who’s now a top-tier tank thanks to the Rending Recall and Deep Wounds Perks. However, there’s another hero in the same category that you shouldn’t be ignoring — Mauga.

At the time of writing, Mauga currently has the lowest pick rate across both PC and console of any OW character, according to tracker site Overbuff. After dominating matches when he first launched in Season 8, a combination of nerfs and players discovering the best counters has seen him fall down the pecking order.

But with the introduction of the Two Hearts and Combat Fuel Perks, he’s become an unkillable machine who’s well worth revisiting.

Don’t sleep on Mauga in Overwatch 2

Mauga’s greatest strength is his self-sustainability, as his two chainguns constantly generate temporary health while dealing critical hits. This encourages a very aggressive playstyle where you need to deal damage to stay alive.

These two Perks crank things up a notch, though. The Minor Perk, Two Hearts, means that the tank counts as two heroes while on an objective, while also passively restoring 20 HP per second when close to a payload or capture point.

Not only does this make him extremely valuable while moving an objective, it also makes him even tougher to clear off due to the additional healing.

Then, Combat Fuel offers up to 100 overhealth every time you pop Cardiac Overload based on the number of critical hits you’ve racked up. This ability already came in clutch, as it heals nearby teammates, but even more healing for Mauga is a game-changer.

When you add all of this together, the character has better survivability than ever before. In many matches, I’ve managed to stay alive long after the rest of my team has died by simply hunkering down on the objective and balancing my chainguns with Cardiac Overdrive, clinging on long enough for reinforcements to arrive.

If you happen to run this combination of Perks with a pair of Supports with generous healing, preferably even a pocket Mercy, then Mauga becomes virtually impossible to kill unless you managed to isolate him.

Of course, no hero is truly invincible if you counter them effectively. But if you manage to stay near the objective and use your abilities wisely, Mauga is the closest to an unkillable character the tank class has to offer.
