The Pokemon CompanyLego and Pokemon, two of the world’s biggest toy franchises, are teaming up for a long-awaited collaboration in 2026.
Officially revealed on March 18 with a trailer depicting the tail of Pokemon’s iconic mascot Pikachu, Lego has since confirmed in a press release that the announcement represents a “multi-year partnership” between the two toy giants.
As of writing, neither party has confirmed what fans cans can expect the first set to contain but considering Pikachu’s presence in the reveal and its globally recognizable image, it’s safe to assume Ash Ketchum’s beloved partner Pokemon will be front of the line to be transformed into plastic bricks.
Lego/PokemonA perfect match
While this will be the first time Pokemon and Lego have shared licenses, the latter has previously enjoyed huge success with similar gaming crossovers. Most notably, partnerships with Nintendo and Sega have led to multiple sets, featuring Mario and Sonic respectively, released.
With over 1000 Pokemon and nine generations of games to draw from, the sky is the limit here. As both have mass appeal to audiences of all different ages, playsets for the former and high-end, more expensive models for older fans aren’t out of the question.
In a joint statement, the two parties said:
“Since the debut of the Pokémon franchise, fans have dreamed of becoming Pokémon Trainers, and now they can take that experience even further… one brick at a time,” the press release reads, adding, “This new partnership will bring the world of Pokémon to life in entirely new ways, allowing fans to build beloved Pokémon in LEGO brick form.”
Since 2017, Mattel has produced similar products under its Mega Bloks brand officially licensed by The Pokemon Company International. It’s not known how Lego and Pokemon’s new relationship will affect existing agreements, if at all.
