A Pokemon card collector is crediting his Incineroar theme deck for saving their life after the cards stopped a stray 9mm bullet.
We’ve seen numerous wild Pokemon card stories over the years, with fans being robbed at gunpoint, high-speed police chases over stolen packs, and even $500,000 heists – but in this case, the cards are the heroes of the story.
In a post on social media, a fan shared photos of their damaged cards after a bullet allegedly fired into their room and only missed because it struck the deck.
According to the collector, they live in the countryside and were woken up early in the morning after hearing an explosion.
The user said that this is normally because their neighbor is out shooting their gun without using a berm or backstop – but in this situation, the fan went to outside investigate and was baffled by what was uncovered.
Fan reveals how Pokemon cards literally took a bullet for them
The Pokemon card collector, going by ‘LolaInSlacks88,’ explained they heard something fall in their closet, so they went to check and found a hole in the wall that went directly into their Tupperware bins full of Pokemon.

“Turns out my idiot neighbors shot a bullet into my house, and an Incineroar theme deck stopped it,” the user revealed. “The actual 9mm bullet was still inside the box. If it hadn’t been there, it would have likely struck me while I was asleep, as it was level with my bed.”
In photos, the fan showed off the damage the stray bullet had caused, including piercing the cards.
While there were doubters in the comments, Lola uploaded a report from the County Sheriff’s office.

According to Lola, the neighbor has since “stopped using their property like a shooting range,” but the incident was so scary that they couldn’t sleep in their own room for a few days.

When asked what cards made the “ultimate sacrifice,” Lola replied: “Pretty much the entire deck, it went through the back and stopped at the front where Incineroar was.”
“I now count Incineroar as my guardian angel Pokemon and have never been happier to have piles of cardboard in my box,” the user added. “You never know – they might stop a bullet!”
This isn’t the first time a piece of gaming merch has helped save someone’s life. Back in 2022, a Redditor claimed his Razer headset protected him from a stray bullet fired through his window.
That same year, an Apex Legends player nearly died when a bullet narrowly missed their head and hit their monitor instead.
