NIANTICAfter Gossifleur’s debut, Pokemon Go is bringing yet another Gen 8 creature to the game: Applin! Learn how to get the apple lookalike – and its evolutions Flapple and Appletun – in the Sweet Discoveries event.
The upcoming Sweet Discoveries event is bringing the iconic Applin to Pokemon Go. But that’s not all, as trainers will be able to evolve the Apple Core creature into two of its forms, Flapple and Appletun. Though a new special item will be required.
While there is no news about the Galarian Pokemon’s third form – Dipplin – the event will feature other surprises, including the Shiny versions of Skwovet, Delibird, and Cherubi. Check out all the details below!
Sweet Discoveries event: Date & time
The Pokemon Go Sweet Discoveries event will kick off on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM and will run until Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time as part of the current Might and Mastery season.
This means trainers will have plenty of time to get the newcomers Applin, Flapple, and Appletun while hunting for the other featured creatures, including the elusive Shinies.
Event bonuses
The following bonuses will be active during the event for all trainers:
- x2 Candy for catching Pokemon
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Delibird and Shiny Skwovet
- Increased chance to hatch Shiny Skwovet, Shiny Delibird, and Shiny Cherubi from Eggs
- Catching Skwovet or Delibird will award Berries
- Increased chance for apples to appear at Mossy Lure Modules
- 1/2 Egg hatch distance for the first three Eggs hatched using the Pokemon Go Egg hatching widget
Pokemon debuts
As mentioned above, the Gen 8 dual Grass/Dragon-type Pokemon – Applin – will debut during the Sweet Discoveries event, along with both evolutions Flapple and Appletun.
Players who catch Applin in the wild can use 200 Candy and 20 Tart Apples to evolve it into Flapple or 200 Candy and 20 Sweet Apples to evolve it into Appletun.
Apples
Beginning with the Sweet Discoveries event, players may discover apples while walking in the wild. Tapping on them will reward you with either Sweet or Tart Apples or maybe even Pokemon encounters – including Applin.

Field Research task rewards
DEXERTOEvent-themed Field Research tasks will be available, and players who manage to complete them will get useful rewards, including Stardust and encounters with Pokemon featured in the event.

Remember that, as the name suggests, the Timed Research has a limited time. Every task must be completed – and rewards must be claimed – before it expires on April 29, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time.

The Paid Timed Research tickets can be purchased and gifted to other players. However, to do so, players must have achieved a Friendship level of Great Friends or higher.
As mentioned before, the Paid Timed Research also expires, so all tasks have to be completed – and their rewards claimed – before the event ends.

The event will also include some surprises for your Avatar, which you can purchase from the in-game shop. Don’t worry if you cannot buy them immediately, they will stay available even after the celebration ends.

As with most events, PokeStop Showcases will be taking place in different PokeStops, so search for them to enter event-themed competitions and earn extra rewards.

During the event, a Sweet Discoveries Ultra Ticket Box will be available at the Pokemon Go Web Store for US $1.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency).
