A new season hits Pokemon’s mobile game every three months, filled with fun new content. As announced, Tales of Transformation promises a whole new set of adventures that will bring back Shadow Groudon, Kanto-focused celebrations, Pokemon debuts, and more.
However, the most exciting part is the addition of new Mega forms for Metagross, Camerupt, and Sharpedo, as well as the debut of Gigantamax Garbodor, Eevee, and Duraludon, and the appearance of the Mythical Resolute Keldeo!

Pokemon Go Tales of Transformation season: Dates & time
The Tales of Transformation season will run from Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM until Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM local time.
This follows directly from the Delightful Days season, which brought Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta to the game. Plus, the debut of the Mythical Volcanion, and plenty of other Pokemon.
Keldeo Resolute Form
For the first time in Niantic’s game, players will have the chance to encounter the Mythical Keldeo in its Resolute Form!
However, those after this special variation will have to get through a long journey first, completing several steps of a Special Research that will be unlocked over the course of the season.
NIANTICThe Tales of Transformation Special Research will be available to claim from September 2, 2025, until December 2, 2025.
New Mega Evolutions
The first Mega Evolutions to be added into Pokemon Go did so almost five years ago, and after a very long wait, it’s finally time for players to get three of the remaining ones. This includes the fan favorite Mega Metagross, as well as Mega Camerupt and Mega Sharpedo.

Throughout the season, these three new forms will take over Mega Raids at different times, allowing players to go up against them and challenge them to a battle – or multiple ones. Moreover, they can be Shiny!
Pokemon debuts
As expected, new creatures will make their way into the mobile game, with only Dripplin and Hydrapple being confirmed as of yet.
For those who don’t remember, Dripplin is the newest evolution of Applin (from Gen 8), which can then be evolved into Hydrapple.
DEXERTOGigantamax Pokemon
Since the Max Out season introduced both Dynamax and Gigantamax forms to Pokemon Go, new creatures with these capabilities have been making their way into the game.
While no Dynamax debuts have been confirmed yet, Niantic announced that Gigantamax Garbodor, Gigantamax Eevee, and Gigantamax Duraludon will be added during the Tales of Transformation season.
Research Breakthrough
By completing the Field Research, players can unlock Research Breakthrough encounters with one of the following Pokemon:
- Alakazam*
- Aggron*
- Sinistea
- Morpeko
- Dreepy
- Frigibax*
Note: Pokemon marked with an (*) can be encountered as Shiny.
Wild encounters rotations
The Tales of Transformation season will add new Pokemon in different biomes based on their natural habitat and Pokedex entry. However, they haven’t been confirmed yet. We will update this guide as soon as Niantic reveals the list.
Eggs
Unlike previous seasons, the Eggs will have a monthly rotation this time around. Here are all the Pokemon you can get by hatching Eggs and their time windows:

Go Battle League
The Go Battle League will return with the regular Great, Ultra, and Master Leagues.
Additionally, special competitions such as the Retro Cup, Halloween Cup, the 2025 Championship Series Cup, Catch Cup, and more will be featured.
DEXERTOSeasonal bonuses
The Tales of Transformation season will feature the following bonuses:
- Trainers Level 31 and above will receive one guaranteed Rare Candy XL when catching a 5-Star Raid boss during a Raid Hour.
- Trainers Level 31 and above will receive one guaranteed Rare Candy XL when trading Pokemon.
- x1 additional Candy when trading Pokemon.
- Increased XP for a seven-day PokeStop spin streak.
- Increased XP and Stardust for a seven-day Pokemon catch streak.
- Increased XP from going up a Friendship level.
New level cap
During an update set for October 15, 2025, the level cap will be increased from 50 to 80. This change will make the players’ leveling journey more fun and engaging, celebrating their milestones with new rewards, cosmetics, and more.
NIANTICAdditionally, from August 25, 2025, until October 14, 2025, all trainers will get extra bonuses that can be stacked with other event bonuses taking place simultaneously:
- x2 Catch XP from Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws
- +3,000 XP from winning Raids
- +3,000 XP from winning Max Battles
Moreover, a special Timed Research will be available for all players Level 5 or above to give them the chance to earn over 7 million XP.
Weekly Challenges
A new social feature that allows players to team up with other trainers will be added to Pokemon Go. This means they will have to work together to tackle different group challenges each week.
Completing these challenges will earn them extra XP while growing their Friendship level.
Players can partner up with trainers from their Friend List (no matter where they are), or they can get matched with other trainers from around the world as a new way to discover friends.
Others
The GO Pass, a limited-time progress tracker, will reset with the Tales of Transformation season challenges. Those who complete the tasks will earn Go Points to increase their ranks and earn juicy rewards. For those after a faster progression, a paid version – Go Pass Deluxe – is also available.
As usual, new sets of stickers will be available for players to collect, PokeStop Showcases will take place at different PokeStops throughout the special events planned for the Tales of Transformation season, and there will be new Store deals for boxes.
