Trainers will be able to earn rewards in brand-new ways when the Tour Pass becomes available during the Pokemon Go Road to Unova and Go Tour 2025 events. Here’s everything players need to know.
Pokemon Go Tour: Unova officially kicks off on March 1, 2025, with several Raids, Pokemon and Shiny debuts, and more set to make the event’s festivities worthwhile for players around the globe.
Niantic is adding another wrinkle to the mix, specifically in the form of a battle pass-like progression track called Tour Pass, which will be accompanied by a premium offering dubbed Tour Pass Deluxe.
Here’s what to expect from the free and premium Tour Passes.
What is the Tour Pass in Pokemon Go Tour 2025?
Tour Passes will allow players to obtain rewards in new ways throughout this year’s Pokemon Go Tour. The free Tour Pass will remain available from Monday, February 24 at 10:00 AM to Sunday, March 2 at 6:00 PM local time.
Every player will automatically receive the free limited-time pass during the start of the Road to Unova event on February 24, 2025, at which point they’ll be able to collect Tour Points that help unlock rewards, improve event bonuses, and increase their rank – there are a total of 500!
A breakdown on Pokemon Go Live notes that rewards obtained during the Tour Pass will expire when on March 9.

What is the Tour Pass Deluxe?
As a premium Tour Pass priced at USD 14.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), the Deluxe alternative will give players better rewards and faster progression. Players who purchase the upgrade will immediately encounter the Mythical Pokémon Victini, even if they’ve previously caught it.
The Tour Pass Deluxe will include rewards featured on both the free and premium tracks. Deluxe owners who reach the highest tier can expect to access the new Lucky Trinket item too.
Related
More so, for USD 19.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), players can get the Deluxe Tour Pass with all its benefits + 10 Ranks already unlocked. This means they’ll get the required points to jump 10 ranks forward no matter where they are.
Lucky Trinket
This new addition called a Lucky Trinket is “a one-time-use item that can be used to turn one friend from your Friend List into a Lucky Friend.”
When used, the friendship between you and your friend will go straight up to Lucky friends even if you’re not Best friends yet.
The Lucky Friend status turns the next Pokemon you trade with such a player into a guaranteed Lucky Pokemon. However, once that trade is over, the Lucky status will be cleared.
The Lucky Trinket will stay in your item bug until you use it but has an expiration date. Those who don’t take advantage of the item will lose it on March 9, 2025, at 6:00 PM.
Requirements
- Players must be – at least – Great Friends in order to pass along the Lucky Trinket.
- If you’re already Lucky friends, you cannot use the item.
- The item does not affect your trade distance.
- If you don’t want to get anyone’s Lucky Trinket, you can disable the permissions in the in-game settings.

Tour pass rewards
Rewards from this track include the following:
- An encounter with the Mythical Pokemon Victini
- Encounters with event-themed Pokemon
- An event-themed avatar item
- One Lucky Trinket
- And more!
And like the free pass, all unlocked Deluxe rewards will expire on March 9, so players should claim their earnings before the end date rolls around.
How to earn Points
To increase their rank and cash rewards, players will have to earn points by completing Pass Tasks. Each completed task equals an immediate reward, and there are Daily Pass Tasks that can get them some extra points.
These are the points trainers can get daily:
- Catch a Legendary Pokemon: 50 points
- Hatch an Egg: 10 points
- Catch a Pokemon: 5 points
Keep in mind the ranking progress is capped at 4 to 5 ranks per day, though during the 2025 Pokemon Go Tour Unova Global event the tasks will refresh hourly.
Ranks & rewards
Each rank requires 10 points to complete and jump to the next one. There are 500 ranks, though the first 100 are the ones with different rewards. After that, trainers will only get Stardust.
