The Pokemon Company International has spoken out after the Department of Homeland Security used its theme song and imagery in a viral immigration enforcement video.
The clip, shared by DHS on X, shows ICE agents making arrests while the Pokemon anime theme plays. It also includes scenes from the anime and ends with deportees displayed as Pokemon cards. DHS captioned the post “Gotta Catch ’Em All,” borrowing the franchise’s slogan.
It quickly went viral across social media, with many eagerly waiting for TPCi to make a statement about the video.
According to PC Gamer, a DHS spokesperson responded to their use of the Pokemon IP with modified lyrics to the theme song, saying: “To arrest them is our real test. To deport them is our cause.”

In a statement to TMZ, a Pokemon Company spokesperson said: “We are aware of a recent video posted by the Department of Homeland Security that includes imagery and language associated with our brand. Our company was not involved in the creation or distribution of this content, and permission was not granted for the use of our intellectual property.”
Pokemon did not confirm if any additional steps or legal action would be taken, stating only that it was not involved and had not granted permission for the video.
The Pokemon Company is known for closely protecting its intellectual property, often taking swift action when its brand is used without approval. It has previously cracked down on unlicensed fan games, merchandise, and events.
One of the more famous lawsuits from Pokemon and Nintendo revolves around Palworld, which launched back in 2024 with quite a few similarities to the iconic monster-catching game.
