Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Destined Rivals set: Release date, pre-order, cards, more

A brand new Pokemon TCG set called Scarlet & Violet Destined Rivals will be arriving soon. Here is everything you need to know ahead of its release.

Pokemon TCG is set to get a brand new set very soon, and if its launch is anything like the recent Prismatic Evolutions, expect these new cards to be hard to find and to sell out instantly in stores worldwide.

While many expected the name of this new set to reference Team Rocket in some capacity, we now know that it will instead be called Scalet & Violet Destined Rivals and it will feature cards from the Japanese sets Heat Wave Arena and The Glory of Team Rocket.

All that said, here is everything you need to know about Pokemon TCG’s upcoming set, including card details, products, and more.

Is there a release date?

Scarlet & Violet Destined Rivals will be released on May 30, 2025.

Since Prismatic Evolutions went on sale on January 17, and Journey Together on March 28, collectors will only have to wait a couple of months for the next lineup of cards.

Can you pre-order Destined Rivals?

Pre-orders for Scarlet & Violet Destined Rivals went live on March 24, 2025. However, due to extremely high demand, the Pokemon Center website had to put buyers in never-ending queues.

On the other hand, scalpers appeared on eBay within minutes of pre-orders going live, offering the Elite Trainer Box and Booster boxes at massively inflated prices.

Between May 27 and May 25, select stores will host pre-release events featuring Build & Battle boxes, so those who can’t snag anything at the official website, can try again.

The theme will revolve around iconic trainers, such as Cynthia, Ethan, and Arven, trying to stop Team Rocket’s latest nefarious plan. However, things won’t be that easy, as Giovanni will be leading the team with very strong Pokemon at his side.

The new expansion will draw heavily from the Heat Wave Arena and the Glory of Team Rocket Japanese sets and will include the following cards:

  • Cynthia
  • Ethan
  • Arven
  • Giovanni
  • Garchomp ex
  • Ho-Oh ex
  • Mabostiff ex
  • Mewtwo ex

With over four trainers’ Pokemon featured, this expansion is already shaping up to feature some good finds for collectors. Furthermore, there will be plenty of variety in particular Pokemon types, with Water, Fire, Dark, Psychic, and Steel already leaked.
