It’s been revealed that the upcoming Pokemon TCG Pocket expansion will be based on Gen 7, featuring creatures from the Alola region and its Legendaries: Solgaleo and Lunala, and it’s coming soon.

Get your sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen ready because Pokemon TCG Pocket is taking players to the tropical archipelagos of the Alolan region with its latest set, Celestial Guardians.

Unlike the Shining Revelry expansion, which added only 111 cards to the game, this one will be huge, with over 200. Among them, you’ll find the starters – Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio, both Legendaries, Solgaleo and Lunala, Alolan Trainers, new ex cards, and the first immersive Supporter card.

Celestial Guardians release date

According to the information published by the official Pokemon TCG Pocket social media channels, the Celestial Guardians expansion will be released on April 30, 2025, at 6:00 AM UTC.

This translates to the following times depending on where you live:

April 29

  • 11:00 PM PDT

April 30

  • 2:00 AM ET
  • 3:00 AM BRT
  • 6:00 AM BST
  • 2:00 PM PST
  • 3:00 PM JST

This means that players have less than a week to collect as many Pack Hourglasses as possible to then open a ton of booster packs once the expansion is released.

As mentioned above, there will be over 200 new cards for players to collect. The Alolan starters Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio are among the list, and of course, their evolutions too.

While the Mythical Island, Triumphant Light, and Shining Revelry sets are similar, this one will be more like the Generic Apex and Space-Time Smackdown ones, as they are bigger and introduce more new cards.

Celestial Guardians special event

Along with the new set, a special event will go live to celebrate the game’s half-year anniversary. It will kick off on April 29, 2025, at 11:00 PM PDT.

The Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Half-Year celebration will include new solo battles (until May 12, 2025) that will reward players with another batch of Promo Packs. Inside such Promo Pack A Series Vol. 7 boosters, lucky trainers will be able to find the regal Rayquaza ex.

But that’s not all. A special round of missions will also be available (until May 28, 2025), and those who complete them can get a full-art version of Rayquaza ex – and other extra goodies – to their collection.
