14-year-old influencer Zuza Beine has died of acute myeloid leukemia, a condition that she chronicled online for her millions of followers across Instagram and TikTok.
Acute myeloid leukemia, often abbreviated as AML, is a cancer that affects bone marrow, where blood cells are produced. It causes stem cells within the bone marrow to create too many immature and abnormal white blood cells, which don’t work as normal and crowd out other healthy blood cells.
As a result, the body experiences a shortage of healthy red blood cells, leading to fatigue, weakness, bruising, bleeding, and a weakened immune system, as there are fewer white blood cells to fend off infections.
Acute myeloid leukemia, in particular, tends to progress very rapidly, hence the name. Beine was diagnosed with the cancer at just three-and-a-half years old, and struggled with it for eleven years before her death in September 2025.
Beine’s Instagram and TikTok pages are full of videos showing the young influencer sharing her daily life, doing her hair and makeup, and hanging out with friends. As per her Instagram profile, she was a five-time survivor of leukemia and had undergone three total bone marrow transplants.
Thanks to her bubbly personality and brutally honest videos showing her life living with AML, she had accrued a combined following over over 3 million across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. She was even a member of the Glow House, a group of Gen Z content creators.
