1923 star had no idea her character would become so important in Yellowstone universe

It’s tough to live in Taylor Sheridan‘s world, and for 1923 star Julia Schlaepfer, she wasn’t even sure if her character Alexandra would last the course.

If you’re a character on Yellowstone, Landman, or Lioness, there’s no guarantee of how long you’ll last. Sheridan’s worlds are often filled with random acts of violence and dastardly enemies, and that’s just the half of it. Many characters often appear only once or twice, never to be seen again.

The case is the same in the Yellowstone prequel, 1923. It’s a show filled with mystery, with plenty of questions surrounding the survival of its characters and who’s related to who.

Julia Schlaepfer, who plays Alex, was surprised to find out just how far her character would go after the first season.

Julia Schlaepfer “didn’t know” how many episodes Alex would be in

Speaking to The Mirror US, Schlaepfer revealed that she was only allowed access to two episodes after being cast in Sheridan’s prequel.

“When I got the role I didn’t know how many episodes I was going to be in. I only had two episodes sent to me so I didn’t know if she was going to stay with Spencer or whether she was going to be a blip on the radar,” she explained.

Of course, Alex goes on to become one of the most important characters in the Dutton legacy. She and Spencer get married on their travels, and now she’s tasked with travelling to Montana alone to find him after his arrest.

On top of all this, she’s also pregnant. This very likely confirms one of the biggest Yellowstone theories that she is John Dutton III (Kevin Costner)’s grandmother. So, without her, there would technically be no Yellowstone at all.

“To get this story was so special,” she added. “Every episode me and Brandon [Sklenar] would be like ‘This is so epic, this is so exciting’ and then to see people really take to our love story was incredible.”
