Not content with its usual roster of binge-worthy TV shows, CBS has now added a weekly soap opera to its schedule. It’s already broken two records: the first daytime television soap opera to feature a predominately African-American cast since 1980s show Generations, and the first new daytime soap to debut on a major American broadcast network since Passions in 1999.
Set in Washington, we follow the Dupree family, who live in an affluent and leafy suburb. The broadcaster defines them as “Black royalty,” with characters Vernon, Anita, Nicole, and Dani a “powerful and prestigious multi-generational family.”
Three months on, there’s a snag. Beyond the Gates has been airing weekly in the same spot until this week – with similar shows like The Rookie and Will Trent also being hit with delays, what’s going on with Episode 45?
Beyond the Gates Episode 45 rescheduled for live sports
Beyond the Gates Episode 45 will now return on May 1, 2025, at 2pm ET on CBS. It’s moved from its usual Tuesday slot thanks to UEFA Champions League coverage.
CBSUEFA Champions League Today is the program taking Beyond the Gates’ actual spot, followed by the semi-final soccer match between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain F.C.
For those who haven’t heard of it before, The UEFA Champions League is an annual club soccer competition organized by the Union of European Football Associations.

Thankfully, it’s not a permanent fixture. After UEFA wraps up, you can expect Beyond the Gates’ schedule to return to normal.
What will happen in Beyond the Gates Episode 45?
Fans can expect to see “the Duprees kick off Ted and Nicole’s anniversary party [as] Eva tries to keep her mother Leslie in check” in Beyond the Gates Episode 45.
CBSThe episode serves as the build-up for Friday’s end-of-the-week finale, where “Ted and Nicole’s anniversary party is a night the family won’t soon forget.”
According to executive producer Shelia Ducksworth, we’re still expecting a “big moment” for Nicole in late April, meaning it could be airing in a matter of days.
“I’ll say this, mark your calendars,” she explained at the Paley Center. “When we get towards the end of April. Wait until you see. That’s all I’m going to say. Wait until we get there. We’re all watching this down in the control room and our stomachs are turning. It’s a big one.”
You’ll be able to watch new episodes of Beyond the Gates on Paramount+ shortly after they’ve aired on CBS.
