Why is Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 20 delayed? Release schedule change explained

Ready to head back to hospital? Well, there’s a delay. Just like real life, we’ve gotta queue up to see the new episode of Chicago Med Season 10, because it’s not on tonight.
First coming to screens in 2015, the binge-worthy TV show makes up a trilogy of television more commonly known as One Chicago. Med follows the doctors and nurses of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center’s emergency ward, trying to save patients’ lives while dealing with their own personal issues.
This means you can safely file it away with other amazing medical dramas like Grey’s Anatomy and The Pitt. We’re 10 seasons in now, and the twists and turns are still leaving us on the edge of our seats.
Obviously, this week is no exception… or it wouldn’t be, if an episode were actually airing. There’s no Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 20 this week, but why is it delayed?
Why is Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 20 delayed?
Officially, all One Chicago shows – that’s Chicago Med, PD, and Fire – are on a week’s hiatus. The reason for this is unknown, but it does mean Season 10 Episode 20 now won’t be broadcast until May 7, 2025, at 8/7c on NBC.

We’ve seen a weekly hiatus across the board by different broadcasters of late, from Beyond the Gates on CBS to 9-1-1 Season 8 on ABC. Sometimes, there are explicit reasons – The Rookie Season 7 was moved last week because of a new interview with President Donald Trump – and other times, there’s no reason at all.
Annoyingly, this is one of those times. The “brief hiatus” only lasts a week, though, meaning we’re back on track soon. We’ve still got two episodes of Season 10 left to go after Episode 20 has aired, so there will be plenty more to binge.

What will happen in Season 10 Episode 20?
As per the episode’s synopsis, “The hospital faces a staffing crisis as the nurses stage a sick-out; Archer and Frost bet on who can discharge their patients first; Charles’ distrust of a patient complicates his treatment.”
As you can see from the above trailer, the hospital is at risk of closing because too many medical staff are coming down with a sudden sickness. Exactly what that sickness is isn’t known yet, but it’s likely it’ll leave at least one character in a serious condition.
Off the back of Episode 19, we’ve watched Matt prep for surgery to donate his liver, alongside Maggie and Goodwin’s friendship being put to the test. Tensions have also risen within the nurse’s union, and it’s likely all three of these storylines aren’t quite put to bed yet.
