A new photo from the set of Clayface suggests a big character from the Batman universe is about to debut in the DCU.
Having launched on the big screen with Superman this past summer, the DC Universe is expanding at speed, with Supergirl arriving on June 26, 2026, and Clayface following on September 11, 2026.
Directed by James Watkins – from a script by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini – the movie is heading into scary territory, with the story of actor Max Hagen being disfigured and becoming the Clayface described as body horror akin to The Fly.
The film has been shooting in and around Liverpool since late August, and eagle-eyed fans have been snapping pictures of the set featuring clues concerning what to expect. Meaning potential SPOILERS ahead…
Flying Graysons poster spotted on Clayface set
The Flying Graysons have a long and storied history in the Batman comics, and thanks to a poster on the set of Clayface, we now know there’s a chance they’ll appear in the DCU, which means one thing – Robin is (probably) coming!
Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane – and first appearing in Detective Comics #38 in April 1940 – The Flying Graysons were a family of acrobats consisting of husband and wife team John and Mary, and their son Dick.
The Graysons worked for Haly’s Circus, and became victims of mobster Tony Zucco’s efforts to extort money from that business. To sabotage the Grayson act, Zucco burned their ropes with acid, resulting in John and Mary falling to their deaths, and Dick becoming an orphan.

Seeing something of himself in Dick, Bruce Wayne fostered Grayson as his ward, and the youngster eventually became Robin, aka Batman’s Boy Wonder.
The poster that was spotted on the Clayface set could just be that – promotional material for the Flying Graysons that appears in the background of a scene.
But it could also play into the central story, and even be a way of introducing the characters of John, Mary, and Dick, thereby setting up a crossover with Batman when that character debuts in the DCU.
