How to get the Darth Vader popcorn bucket for the Revenge of the Sith re-release

Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith and AMC's breathing Darth Vader popcorn bucket

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith is back in cinemas this weekend, and there’s one way you should mark the re-release: buying the Darth Vader popcorn bucket.

Twenty years ago, George Lucas’ trilogy of prequels came to a close with Revenge of the Sith, with Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) falling to the dark side and transforming into Darth Vader.

Unlike its predecessors, Episode III was largely praised. However, the hype around its return to theaters is a testament to the nostalgia that’s grown around the prequels; incredibly, they’re probably the least contentious Star Wars projects now, especially after the response to the sequel trilogy.

Disney and Lucasfilm have pulled out all of the stops to celebrate its 20th anniversary, and one theater chain has the perfect popcorn bucket to mark the occasion.

Where to buy the breathing Darth Vader popcorn bucket

If you want the Darth Vader bucket, you need to visit your local AMC Theatre.

It’s exclusive to the AMC chain, and it’s not available on AMC’s online shop (yet), so it can only be bought in person.

“Collect this Darth Vader popcorn bucket with iconic breathing sounds and commemorative 20th anniversary cup, large popcorn and drink included. Available in theatres 4/24, while supplies last,” the website reads.

Those last three words are very important: “while supplies last.” Demand for novelty popcorn buckets has skyrocketed over the past year (thanks to Dune’s “wormussy” kickstarting the trend), and people will be queuing to buy one even if they don’t have tickets to see Revenge of the Sith).

Pre-warning, several Vader buckets have already been listed on eBay for more than $90. They may already be sold out, so if you want one, you better be quick.

How much does the Darth Vader bucket cost?

This hasn’t been confirmed, but if you buy the bucket on its own without popcorn or a drink, it’s believed to cost $44.99 plus tax.

Don’t worry if you can’t get one, there are other options. For example, Cinemark has released a Darth Vader cup for $20, and you’ll be able to pick that up in Regal Cinemas too.
