It’s fair to say Charlie Sheen has led a colorful life. He reached the very top of the entertainment industry, thanks to movies like Platoon, Wall Street, and Young Guns, while the sitcom Two and a Half Men made him the highest paid actor in TV history.
But offscreen, his life was a mess, thanks to Sheen’s addiction to drink and drugs, which led to frequent run-ins with the law.
Netflix documentary ‘aka Charlie Sheen’ charts the highs and lows of his career, and covers a particularly shocking allegation about Corey Haim. While it also makes brief mention of a strange incident with actress Kelly Preston, whom he was seeing at the time.
Did Charlie Sheen shoot Kelly Preston?
NetflixAccording to both Charlie Sheen and Kelly Preston, the former did not shoot the latter, with the gun in question going off by accident.
The incident is brushed past in the documentary, with his Two and a Half Men co-star Jon Cryer saying of Sheen: “There were incidents where you were like, ‘wait, what happened?’ Like when he shot Kelly Preston, you know?”
The doc then cuts to a Current Affair segment that states, “Charlie Sheen and Kelly Preston seemed to be a nice couple. Each is a successful, attractive actor. Each is upset now, about stories circulating that Kelly suffered a gunshot wound earlier this month.”
They then cut to a reporter doorstepping Preston, and asking what happened, to which the actress responds that “the truth is it was a complete accident – it fell, it went off.”

But in spite of Sheen talking about all the troubles from his past in aka, the filmmakers don’t question him about this incident, with this section instead ending with Jon Cryer saying: “There’s always this tightrope of, you know, I don’t know the whole story. Is he the guy who he appears to me to be? Or is there some much darker thing going on?”
Charlie Sheen says Kelly Preston “got hit with shrapnel from toilet bowl”
In 2011, Kelly Preston reiterated her story, telling TMZ: “It was an accident. He put it in his pocket, it fell out, and it went off. Complete accident.”
While during his ‘My Violent Torpedo of Truth’ tour in 2016, Sheen elaborated on the incident, saying (as per E Online): “I was downstairs early in the morning making coffee and I thought she was still asleep upstairs, and I heard a f**king gunshot go off.
“The tiny revolver I used to carry… it fell out of the back jeans pocket and hit the floor and shot a bullet right between her legs. So, she got hit with shrapnel from the toilet bowl.”
Though it should be noted, this was the same tour where Sheen claimed to be drinking tiger blood, possessing Adonis DNA, and consistently “winning,” which means most of what he said should be taken with a pinch of salt.
