Disney Plus subscribers are bracing for another price increase, with Disney confirming that rates across all plans will rise on October 21.
The ad-supported Disney Plus plan will jump by $2 to $11.99 per month, while the Premium no-ads tier will climb $3 to $18.99 monthly.
Annual subscribers aren’t spared either, as the Premium plan will now cost $189.99 per year, up $30 from its previous price.
As noted by The Verge, when Disney Plus launched in 2019, it cost just $6.99 per month. Since then, October price hikes have become a regular occurrence, with increases in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Disney’s streaming division finally turned a profit last year, but keeping it that way may depend on subscriber loyalty in the face of yet another rise.
Disney raises prices amid Jimmy Kimmel controversy
This comes as Disney faced a wave of cancellations over the company’s decision to briefly suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live! after the host made controversial comments about the killing of political activist Charlie Kirk and his supporters.

Disney-owned ABC backtracked on this decision just a week later after it held “thoughtful” discussions with Kimmel. The show is set to return on September 23 – and there’s an easy way to watch it for free for those interested.
With so many people having canceled Disney Plus over this decision, it’s unclear yet if the new price increases will deter them from resubscribing.
This isn’t the streaming platform to raise its prices, either. Notably, YouTube has frequently come under fire for increasing the price of its ad-free Premium subscriptions.
