Fantastic Four: First Steps Blu-ray features missing Mole Man scene

The deleted scenes on the Fantastic Four: First Steps Blu-ray have been revealed, and it looks like we’ll be getting more Mole-Man action.

Fantastic Four: First Steps was Marvel’s biggest hit of the year, with the movie’s $519 million haul outpacing Thunderbolts* ($382 million) and Captain America: Brave New World ($415 million).

The studio’s First Family will next be seen in Avengers: Doomsday in 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.

But if you need a fresh Fantastic fix sooner than that, the team are taking their first steps onto Blu-ray in October, and the features-packed discs looks like they will include an additional Mole Man scene.

Fantastic Four deleted scene set in Subterranea

Fantastic Four: First Steps hits 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 14, and thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we now know it will feature the following deleted scenes:

  • Thanksgiving Soup Kitchen
  • Fantastic Four Day
  • Subterranea
  • Birthday Sweater
  • Taking Turns

It’s the ‘Subterranea’ sequence that has piqued our interest, as that’s where Mole Man lives, and as played by the brilliant Paul Walter Hauser, we didn’t see nearly enough of the character in First Steps.

Now the scene might be an establishing shot of Mole Man’s mates down there, or more of what happens when those above ground move to Subterranea.

But, there’s also a sequence that writer Eric Pearson talked regretfully about losing, so we could be finally seeing that.

“There’s other scenes of Mole Man,” Pearson told The Hollywood Reporter. “There was another scene with Sue where she goes down and talks to him about diplomacy, which was super fun and super funny.

Sue Storm might feature in the ‘Subterranea’ scene.

“Movies are a tough stew. Sometimes you’ve got a great scene, and it’s just not the right flavor for the stew. But I was like, ‘We can’t go back down there again. Let him come into Reed’s place and touch everything.'”

Which resulted in the hilarious scene where Mole Man marches into the Baxter Building, a sequence that would have harked back to a family classic if Parson had his way: “I probably would’ve gone way too far if I was directing,” the writer revealed. “I wanted him touching every device like Baby Huey in Roger Rabbit, just going around messing with everything.”

EW also reports that the Blu-ray will feature three featurettes:

  • Meet The First Family: The creation of the Fantastic Four saved Marvel Comics in 1961 and has only flourished as years have passed. Matt Shakman and the cast explain how they found themselves gravitating toward each role and creating the ultimate family unit.
  • Fantastic Futurism: The filmmakers discuss the process of immersing the cast and crew in the film’s retro-futuristic aesthetic. Join Matt Shakman and crew as they discuss the experience of shooting in gigantic mid-century New York sets and stepping into an otherworldly era.
  • From Beyond and Below: The team explores bringing complex characters from the page to the screen, including a larger-than-life Galactus, grounded Harvey Elder/Mole Man, and an emotionally rich Silver Surfer.

Fantastic Four: First Steps drops on Digital platforms on September 23, 2025, before this physical release on October 14.
