Fire Country Season 3 Episode 14 needs to answer one shocking question

Bode in Fire Country Season 3

Episode 13 was a shock to the system for Edgewater and fans alike, putting one character in life-threatening danger. But will they get through Fire Country Season 3 Episode 14 unscathed?

Alongside the expected drama that comes with typical firefighting – rescuing people and/or animals from burning buildings, heroically facing your fears, and lots of physical injury – Fire Country adds an extra layer of personal trauma to its third season.

Most recently, that’s come in the form of Riley’s death. She died before the binge-worthy TV show even started, but we learned Bode’s role in her last hours during Season 1. This comes back to bite the Leones collectively when Walter completely forgets she died in the first place.

So alongside the trauma of his job, Bode is now having to reconfront the trauma of his past. And what could make things even worse? Having to deal with the trauma of his present at the same time. But how does that unfold in Fire Country Season 3 Episode 14?

Will Bode relapse in Fire Country Season 3 Episode 14?

Of course, I’m talking about Bode’s potential relapse. Season 3 Episode 13 saw Bode play the ultimate hero in the line of duty, but Coach Drew gave him pain meds to treat his injuries. This led right back to his addiction following a baseball injury, which we followed more closely in Season 1. In essence, the seed has been replanted, and now they’re right in his eye line.

Bode in Fire Country

At the moment, Bode has kept the pain meds, but hasn’t used them. Essentially, this feels like Fire Country is stalling the inevitable storyline – Bode is going to relapse, it’s just a question of when. If he wasn’t tempted to keep on taking the meds, why would he have kept them?

At the moment, Season 3 Episode 14 isn’t giving away anything about Bode’s personal storyline. The official synopsis reads: “The station 42 crew responds to a wellness check at the home of a hoarder that escalates into a full-blown house fire; Vince and Sharon are forced to face the reality of his father’s ballooning cognitive troubles.”

If Walter’s condition is going to be at the fore of the episode, this might just give Bode more reason to sink back into bad habits. Watching his grandpa decline surely means the Leones need to confront their feelings about Riley’s death, something they’ve never done together.

To catch you up, Bode was driving Riley in the car when a crash caused her death, with dad Vince telling him to leave town and never come back. Mom Sharon was none the wiser, and they’ve only just been able to build their relationship back up.

Bode’s sobriety and his relationship with his family are things he’s fought so hard for, and the fight is about to get even bigger if addiction comes back into the mix. Regardless of what happens next, Bode is bound to be in a bad place… and that leads to a lot more that needs to be unpacked in the rest of Fire Country Season 3.
