Gen V Season 2 pays tribute to Chance Perdomo with Andre’s heroic fate

Gen V Season 2 opens with a message that pays tribute to Chance Perdomo, who played Andre – but the series goes even further to honor the star.

The actor, who was 27 years old, died in a motorcycle accident in March 2024 as he was traveling to Toronto to begin filming the second season of The Boys spinoff.

A statement shared on the show’s social media accounts said, “Everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory. We won’t be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance.”

It added that they were “taking the time and space to recraft” Season 2’s storylines, and the opening three episodes give Andre a heroic sendoff.

What happens to Andre Anderson in Gen V?

Andre Anderson dies off-screen in Gen V Season 2, losing his life in an effort to help his friends escape the Elmira Rehabilitation Center.

The second season starts with vague references to Andre’s death. We know Marie managed to flee, but she left Andre, Jordan, and Emma behind. Andre saw that as proof that there was a way out, but they discovered that the route had already been bricked off.

In a desperate bid to get out, Andre tried to rip off a huge steel door, but the strain of using his powers (caused by the same condition that his father, Polarity, also suffers from) made him have a fatal stroke.

Speaking to EW, Gen V showrunner Michele Fazekas said: “Just watching the show and watching even just the trailer for it… we did it so long ago and I remember being in the writer’s room and talking about how important it was to honor him.

“And then when you watch the show, he exists throughout the entire season. It was, in many ways, about Andre and about Chance. And, yeah, I’m very proud of that actually.”

Andre’s death comes up throughout Season 2 in emotional and unexpected ways. “I hope as far as the story goes, that he’s remembered as a hero and gets to live on in that way,” Jaz Sinclair, who plays Marie, told Parade.

“I think that that’s really cool. The writers really did their best at writing it in and doing it justice. Chance was a real person. And it’s hard to do that full justice, and it’s hard to fully encapsulate what it is to love somebody and care for somebody.”

Sean Patrick Thomas, who plays Polarity, added: “Every scene that I did in Season 2, I felt like Chance was right there with me.”
