In light of the latest Madeleine McCann news, a new documentary is set to air today (May 7). If you’re in the US or outside the UK, there’s a simple way to watch it for free. Warning: some may find this content distressing.

The true crime case first unfolded back in May 2007 when the British three-year-old went missing from her bed in Portugal, while on a family holiday with parents Kate and Gerry McCann and twin siblings Sean and Amelie.

It quickly became known as the most heavily reported missing persons case in history, and even in 2025, new information continues to emerge.

Now, German police have said a hard drive found at suspect Christian Brueckner’s property contains evidence that leads them to believe Madeleine is dead, all of which is set to be revealed in a new documentary

As reported by the outlet, much of the evidence was discovered by chance following a search at an abandoned factory Brueckner bought for £20,000 in 2008 – a year after Madeleine disappeared.

In 2016, after a dog ran onto the property, officers uncovered a wallet with six USB sticks and two memory cards containing disturbing material. This led to a full search of the factory, which is located in Neuwegersleben, Germany.

Among the materials found were stories by Brueckner showing his desire to kidnap children, as well as records of Skype messages with other child sex offenders, photos of minors, kids’ swimming costumes and toys, black-market guns and ammunition, and a satnav.

All of this and more will be examined in the doc, as well as how they potentially tie Brueckner to Madeleine’s disappearance.

As per the official synopsis, the film follows “an investigation by The Sun into Madeleine McCann’s disappearance, which uncovers further evidence that could point towards the prime suspect’s involvement in this unsolved crime.”
