James Gunn made a couple of huge changes to the Peacemaker opening credits for Season 2, and now we know why a Foxy Shazam song replaced Wig Wam.
One of the most memorable elements of Peacemaker Season 1 was the opening credits, which saw John Cena and the rest of the cast dancing their superhero socks off.
The song chosen for that purpose was a glam rock tune from Norway’s Wig Wam, which was released in 2010, and titled ‘Do You Wanna Taste It?’
But for Season 2, as well as making a controversial Justice League change, Peacemaker has a new opening tune in the shape of Foxy Shazam’s ‘Oh Lord’ – and James Gunn has now explained why.
Foxy Shazam are James Gunn’s favorite band
The reason for the song changes is simple, says Gunn. “I knew the dance had to change because we killed everybody in Season 1,” he told TheWrap. “But I wasn’t sure whether I was going to change the song or keep the song the same and do a different dance.
“After just listening to a lot of things, and just going walking through my imagination, I eventually hit upon ‘Oh Lord,’ which I thought was great. They have a great music video which has dancing in it, and I thought that was a good inspiration for Season 2.”
As for why he chose Foxy Shazam, Gunn says they are “literally my favorite band. But I think that the lyrics are very much about what happens in Season 2. I think that in the same way ‘Do Ya Wanna Taste It?’ really captured the flavor, both the light and the dark sides of Season 1, the same is true of ‘Oh Lord.’”

Gunn has also been speaking about the quality of dance moves in S2, telling Nerdist that it’s worse that S1. “The biggest challenge for me, really, was that we have may more bad dancers this season,” Gunn said.
As for who specifically, he added: “Shoutout to Frank Grillo and Tim Meadows and Michael Rooker, who were what Robert Patrick was. A singular bad dancer last season, now is many.”
Peacemaker is now airing on HBO Max in the US and Sky Max in the UK, though there’s also a sneaky watch the series for free.
