Doctor, doctor… get me a new medical drama to binge, stat! Both Grey’s Anatomy and New Amsterdam left us wanting more, and now Netflix is quenching the thirst with a brand-new series.
Unbelievably, Grey’s Anatomy is on its 21st season, making it one of the longest-running TV shows in recent decades. Some of our favorite characters might be long gone (ahem, Cristina Yang), but the drama is far from stopping.
Sadly, New Amsterdam didn’t have the same trajectory. The binge-worthy TV show ended after five seasons and a very strange time jump involving Max Goodwin’s daughter.
But what if we could relive the hype all over again, from the very beginning? Netflix is upping the ante with a brand-new medical drama that’ll break our hearts from the jump.
New medical drama Pulse comes to Netflix this April
If Grey’s Anatomy and New Amsterdam came together and had a new little streamable baby, it would be Pulse, coming to Netflix on April 3, 2025.

Here’s what we know so far. “As a hurricane barrels towards Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center, third-year resident Dr. Danny Simms (Willa Fitzgerald) is unexpectedly thrust into a promotion when beloved Chief Resident Dr. Xander Phillips (Colin Woodell) is suspended.
“Amid the worsening storm and an onslaught of trauma cases, the hospital goes into lockdown, and Danny and Phillips must find a way to work together – even as the bombshell details of a complicated and illicit romance between them begin to spill out.
“The rest of the ER is left to process the fallout of their relationship while balancing their own challenges, both personal and professional, as they work under the pressure of life-or-death stakes.”

Essentially, it’s Grey’s on steroids, with a touch of Fire Country-style natural disaster thrown in for good measure.
Willia Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell, and Justina Machado lead its cast, supported by Jack Bannon, Jessie T. Usher, Chelsea Muirhead, Daniela Nieves, and Jessy Yates.
Showrunner Carlton Cuse told Netflix, “Nowadays, your work family can really be, apart from your literal family, the most important community you have. The complications that arise – between what’s going on off the clock and on the clock – can get messy. It can get confusing. That’s what we wanted to explore with Pulse.”
“We wanted these characters to be real people who have to go through the relatable issues of working together in a pressure cooker. Relationships are forming and breaking apart on Pulse,” showrunner Zoe Robyn added.
Pulse drops on Netflix on April 3. If you can’t wait that long, both Grey’s and New Amsterdam are currently available on the streaming service.
