Netflix has the perfect show to watch while you wait for Invincible Season 4

Invinci9ble stands in front of a screen full of Netflix titles

After eight gory episodes, Invincible Season 3 has finally come to an end and what an end it was.

Conquest finally made his grand appearance after Angstrom Levy’s failed invasion, and the second most powerful Viltrumite wasted no time in punishing Mark for his refusal to take over Earth.

During their climactic battle, the pair took turns beating each other like drums, and Conquest took vicious pleasure in trying to turn Atom Eve inside out (don’t worry, she got better). Still, in the end, it was Mark who triumphed after pounding Conquest’s face until it resembled a dropped jar of salsa.

As the season drew to a close, Mark got something of a happy ending, or at least it’s clear he’ll get a brief respite from the nonstop trauma. But what about us? What are we to do while we wait for Invincible Season 4?

Invincible is dead… long live Blood of Zeus

Well, you’re in luck. There are plenty of shows out there, just like Invincible, but arguably one of the best is Blood of Zeus. This wildly entertaining Netflix show follows Heron, the son of Zeus, as he tears his way through the monsters and gods of ancient Greek legend like a slightly less angry (but no less violent) version of Kratos.

Boasting gorgeous animation and some incredibly well choreographed (and gory) fight scenes, Blood of Zeus will quench the bloodthirst of those looking for some violent escapism while also putting enough of a unique spin on well-known myths and legends to keep the clever clogs in the audience entertained as well.

I think arguably, though, the reason why Invincible fans will get a kick out of Blood of Zeus is that both series explore the dynamic between father and son. Heron, like Mark, is the son of a great but terrible man (well, god, but it’s functionally the same thing), and Zeus, like Nolan, isn’t the best father, which brings him into conflict with his son.

Ultimately, the show (and I’m trying not to spoil things here) is about the dangers of resentment and the power of forgiveness – themes that will have a particular resonance with anyone who watched Mark and Nolan’s reunion in Season 2.

What I’m saying is Blood of Zeus looks good; it’s well-written and action-packed. If that doesn’t sound like something an Invincible fan would like, then I don’t know what does. If you’re looking for other recommendations, why not check out our list of the best superhero shows and the best superhero movies.
