As the K-Pop Demon Hunters hype train hurtles onwards, tennis champion Novak Djokovic has paid tribute to the Netflix hit after a US Open win.
K-Pop Demon Hunters is a full-on phenomenon. The animated movie launched on Netflix on June 20, 2025, and by July, had become the streamer’s most watched animated film of all-time.
Songs from the flick also rocketed up the Billboard Hot 100, while by August, it became Netflix’s most watched movie ever, amassing an incredible 236 million views – and there are no signs of slowing down.
There’s been a theatrical release, with K-Pop Demon Hunter parties happening in cinemas all across America. Now, the craze has hit the US Open, thanks to tennis legend Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic does ‘Soda Pop’ dance after US Open win
To celebrate victory over Taylor Fritz in the Arthur Ashe Stadium at the US Open, Novak Djokovic did the ‘Soda Pop’ dance from K-Pop Demon Hunters.
To the delight of a cheering Flushing Meadows crowd, Djokovic pretended to drink from an imaginary bottle, before shuffling his shoulders, then giving it some hip, all for his daughter Tara’s eighth birthday.
Straight after doing the dance, Djokovic said: “It’s my daughter’s birthday, so this is a big present for her… she’s going to rate me tomorrow how was the dance, because she taught me.”
Then he gave his moves some context, explaining: “It’s K-Pop Demon Hunters. ‘Soda Pop’ is the name of the song. Obviously it’s a big thing, globally for teenagers and for kids.
“I didn’t know about it before my daughter told me a few months ago. We’re at home doing different choreographies and this is one of them, so hopefully I’ll make her smile when she wakes up tomorrow morning.”
