One Piece Episode 1142, ‘Come in, World – Vegapunk’s Message’, was supposed to air on Sunday, August 31, so why is it nowhere to be seen? Sadly, there’s been a delay, but we do have a new release date to look forward to.
The One Piece anime, based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga series of the same name, is deep into the Egghead Arc right now. Episode 1141 sees the Giant Warrior Pirates return to aid the Straw Hats, Luffy unleashing Gear 5 against Saturn, and Sanji clashing with Kizaru.
Episode 1142 promises to raise the stakes even further, with the title suggesting Dr. Vegapunk’s infamous transmission will come into play alongside the continuing battles. So, it’s no surprise fans were excited to see this play out on screen.
This may make the delay sting a little, but thankfully there’s an end in sight.
One Piece Episode 1142 release date & delay
The next episode of the One Piece anime has been subject to a one-week delay, meaning Episode 1142 will now drop on September 7, 2025.
Hiatuses like this aren’t unusual for the series – Toei Animation often builds in short breaks to protect its animators’ health and maintain consistent quality, particularly during action-heavy arcs like Egghead.
Eiichiro Oda himself has previously acknowledged how demanding the schedule can be, and production pauses have historically been used to give the creative teams breathing room.
That said, 2025 has already tested fans’ patience more than ever before: in October 2024, the anime entered its longest hiatus in history, with a six-month break before Egghead Arc Part 2 began in April 2025.

The latest setback, while relatively minor by comparison, stings a little more given that momentum was just starting to build again. Still, most viewers agree that One Piece is worth the wait, especially when it comes to preserving the creative team’s health.
