Peacemaker actor teases Superman cameo in Season 2 after James Gunn promises “big stars”

Peacemaker in Season 2 Episode 1 and Superman

Peacemaker Season 2 will feature some “big stars” from the DCU, according to James Gunn – and one star has hinted that it could be Superman.

Peacemaker opened with three big cameos: Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn), Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), and Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), all of whom first appeared in Superman.

The question is, who else will show up? The show’s ‘weeks ahead’ trailer includes Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag saying he wants to talk to a prisoner at Belle Reve, which sounds like a Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) cameo, given the link between his pocket dimension and Peacemaker’s Quantum Unfolding Chamber.

Other fans have predicted we’ll see Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, and perhaps even Batman (this seems unlikely). However, there is one cameo everyone expects: Superman himself, David Corenswet.

While appearing on the PelucheEn ElEstuche YouTube channel, Gunn teased: “We have some really big, big stars from the DC Universe that are gonna be [in it] near the end of the season.”

This echoes Gunn’s excitement (and concerns) around the last three episodes, which haven’t been sent to any journalists in advance. He’s said they’re his favorite thing he’s ever done, but he’s so worried about spoilers that he won’t let his publicist see them.

Grillo mentioned the final episodes in an interview with Fortress of Solitude. “I do think there’s certainly bad blood between Rick Flag and Superman. But I also agree [other characters] not always available to show up when they’re needed,” he said.

“But saying that… I don’t think you’ve seen more than five episodes? So, we can’t really say anything.”

While it hasn’t been confirmed, a Superman cameo would make the most sense. Peacemaker appeared in the movie, criticizing the Man of Steel for making guys “a little edgier than [him] look like jerks.”

There aren’t any world-ending stakes in Season 2 (yet) that would justify calling in Superman, but consider this: what if Superman appears at the end, similar to the Justice League’s retconned cameo in Season 1, and he gives Peacemaker a pat on the back and thanks him for his hard work?

That would probably irritate the Justice Gang (and especially Guy), and it would bring Peacemaker’s Superman cameo full circle.

“You gotta watch the rest of the episodes. There’s some… that’s all I’m going to say. I’m always on the brink of getting fired,” Grillo added.
