HBO MaxPeacemaker Season 2 opened a can of worms in its first episode – or, more accurately, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, and Christopher Smith has a big mess to clean up in Episode 2.
Peacemaker had a rough time in the premiere. He was rudely (and hilariously) rejected by Maxwell Lord’s Justice Gang, Harcourt knocked him back, and he surrounded himself with drugs, alcohol, and sex as he disassociated in his own home.
Smith sought comfort from an alternate dimension where his dad is alive (and, crucially, nice), his brother is still around, and they fight crime together as the Top Trio.
However, things quickly went haywire when he met the other version of himself, and that’s where Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 2 is expected to pick up.

Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 2 will be available to stream on HBO Max at 6pm PT/9pm ET on Thursday, August 28.

How many episodes of Peacemaker Season 2 are there?
HBO MaxThere are eight episodes in Peacemaker Season 2.
One episode is being released per week, with Gunn telling his social media followers that “the anticipation and conversation around dropping an episode week to week is part of the fun.”
Also, Episodes 6, 7, and 8 are set to be big – so much so, Gunn won’t even let his publicist see them because he’s so scared of spoilers getting out.
“I am the one who’s keeping the three episodes away from everybody because there are too many surprises in those last three episodes. Especially 6 and 8, they are just crazy, my favourite things I’ve ever done of anything,” he told Screen Rant.

What happened in Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 1?
HBO MaxAfter a recap of the first season retcons the appearance of the Justice League, Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 1 initially follows Chris as he interviews to be part of the Justice Gang.
They keep mocking him (Maxwell Lord doesn’t realise his mic was still on), so he storms out. Meanwhile, Harcourt realizes she’s been black-booked from every intelligence agency after Adebayo spoke out against Amanda Waller at the end of Season 1, so she takes her anger out by fighting some guys at a local bar.
Peacemaker clearly likes Harcourt, and something happened between them at a boat party between Seasons 1 and 2. But, certainly for now, the feeling isn’t mutual, which is just more salt on the wound for Chris.
He goes home, takes drugs, drinks, and invites people round to have an orgy, before stumbling into the alternate dimension he discovered at the start of the episode. He reunites with his brother Keith and has a drink with him and his father (who isn’t a racist in this universe – he’s a caring, normal dad).
As Peacemaker looks around his bedroom, he’s confronted by his alternate self, who nearly kills him on sight. He flees into the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, where a brief, brutal fight ensues between the two Peacemakers. Just as our Chris is about to be murdered, he activates the other Peacemaker’s jet pack, impaling him on a spike on the ceiling and killing him. That’s where it ends.
