When are new episodes of South Park out? Season 27 release schedule

Butters in South Park Season 27

South Park is so back. Trey Parker and Matt Stone delivered a truly wild episode with the Season 27 premiere and the same goes for the following episodes, so be sure to check out the full release schedule so you don’t miss a thing.

The long-running animated series was on shaky ground amid the ongoing bidding war between Paramount and HBO Max, sparking fears South Park Season 27 would get delayed as a result.

However, mere hours before the new chapter’s debut, Parker and Stone inked a $1.5 billion licensing deal with Paramount Plus, meaning all 26 seasons are now on the streaming service, and new episodes will head there after airing on Comedy Central.

With Season 27 Episode 4, ‘Wok is Dead’, out now, here’s when to expect new episodes, as well as the release schedule.

South Park Season 27 Episode 5 release date & time

Episode 4 of South Park Season 27 airs on Wednesday, September 17, at 10pm ET/PT on Comedy Central. It will be available for streaming on Paramount Plus the following day, September 18, at 6am ET/3am PT.

If you’re outside of the US and watching via Comedy Central using a VPN, you can find your time zone below:

Although single episodes were due to drop weekly, they’ve all been releasing on a bi-weekly basis due to the fast turnaround of the show.

This isn’t out of the ordinary. South Park episodes are written, animated, and voiced in just a matter of days, allowing Stone and Parker to respond in real time to current events, but it also means delays aren’t unusual.

It hasn’t been confirmed just yet, but a Paramount insider told Deadline that bi-weekly releases will continue for the rest of Season 27, stating, “We’re not going to argue with what’s working. The numbers are great, the show is getting a lot of attention – if they want to give us a 20-week season for 10-episodes, that’s OK.”

How many episodes are there?

There are 10 episodes in South Park Season 27, which will no doubt be music to the ears of fans.

In recent years, South Park seasons have been noticeably shorter, with some chapters only running for six episodes or focusing on standalone specials.

This shift came as Parker and Stone balanced their massive Paramount deal alongside an ongoing tug-of-war between HBO Max over streaming rights.

But with Season 27, the show is back to a traditional format, with the recent five-year $1.5 billion licensing agreement including 50 new episodes across five seasons.

Speaking about the deal, Stone said (via Deadline), “Trey and I and the whole South Park crew are grateful for this extension and this deal.

“We want to thank Chris McCarthy and Keyes Hill-Edgar for years of great partnership and are looking forward to continuing to make South Park for the next five years.”

Parker added, “We are grateful for this opportunity and deeply honored by the trust placed in us. This is about more than a contract – it’s about our commitment to this organization, our teammates, and our fans.”
