What time is South Park Season 27 Episode 5 out? Last minute delay explained

Stan, Cartman, and Kenny in South Park

South Park Season 27 Episode 5 is arguably the most anticipated after the events of the past week, but if you were hoping to watch it soon, we have some news.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone aren’t holding back when it comes to the latest chapter of South Park. So far, we’ve had Randy as a ket-sniffing tech bro, Kristi Noem shooting Krypto the dog, and the actual US president Donald Trump impregnating Satan with a “butt baby”.

The creators have been getting away with ripping into everyone and everything for nearly three decades thanks to America’s free speech laws, but Season 27 has been particularly explosive, kicking off with an explicit PSA.

In light of Charlie Kirk’s death, reruns of the second episode, ‘Got a Nut’ – in which Cartman impersonates the right-wing commentator – were pulled by Comedy Central. However, that doesn’t mean the show has ended.

South Park Season 27 Episode 5 was set to debut on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. However, it’s since been delayed by one week, meaning it’ll now land on Wednesday, September 24 at 10pm ET/9pm CT on Comedy Central

It will then be available for streaming on Paramount Plus on Thursday, September 25 at 6am ET/5am CT.

Although Season 27 was supposed to drop on a weekly basis, this was changed to bi-weekly. However, Episode 5 has been delayed further, meaning there’ll be a three-week wait in total.

This was announced on September 17 on the show’s X/Twitter account, which said, “A note regarding tonight’s previously scheduled episode. South Park to continue on Wednesday, September 24th at 10pm ET/PT on Comedy Central.”

Parker and Stone also shared the following statement: “Apparently when you do everything at the last minute sometimes you don’t get it done. This one’s on us. We didn’t get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central and South Park fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week!”

In its place, we can expect a rerun of Season 27 Episode 4 on Comedy Central.

South Park Season 27 delay explained

Butters in South Park Season 27

There’s a simple reason for the Episode 5 delay: the creators need more time to make the show as good as it needs to be.

South Park has always been made on an ultra-fast turnaround, with episodes written, animated, and voiced in just a matter of days. This allows Stone, Parker, their writers, and animators to respond in real time to current events – but it also means delays aren’t unusual.

Season 27 was originally due to air weekly, but the first few episodes kept being stalled by one week for this reason. Rather than leave fans hanging, the show is set to continue with a tri-weekly and then a bi-weekly schedule for the rest of the 10-episode run.

So, the release schedule for the remaining episodes looks like this:

  • Episode 5 – September 24
  • Episode 6 – October 15
  • Episode 7 – October 29
  • Episode 8 – November 12
  • Episode 9 – November 26
  • Episode 10 – December 10

A source close to the animated series told Deadline last month, “What they’re doing means this year’s episodes need more time than usual to put together, to finish.

“So much happens right now in just one day with Trump. No one’s going to sacrifice getting it right, even if we have to push getting it to air, and if that makes the season longer, so be it.”

An insider at Skydance’s Paramount added, “We’re not going to argue with what’s working. The numbers are great, the show is getting a lot of attention – if they want to give us a 20-week season for 10-episodes, that’s OK.”

Season 27 Episode 5 theories

Satan and Trump in South Park Season 27

Following Kirk’s death on September 10, the biggest question surrounding South Park Season 27 Episode 5 is how Parker and Stone will move forward – and whether it will address the news.

On X/Twitter, one fan wrote, “We’re in for an all timer South Park episode by the way,” while another commented, “I reckon the South Park boys are likely to be a little more subtle this week.”

Whether it chooses to tackle this subject or not is yet to be seen, but we’ll likely see Trump and Satan return, especially now that they’re pregnant.

Over on Reddit, one speculated, “It’ll probably be focused on the pregnant Satan thing so either we get Damion’s little brother or revealing Cartman’s mom origin story.” Another said, “I think Satan’s butt baby is going to be a reincarnated Epstein, or Epstein related.”

But what else might go down? One fan suggested, “Since Kyle and Kenny have had all of two lines this season, I bet it’ll be Kyle centric OR if we’re lucky a main four ep.”

Another wrote, “On yesterday’s episode we saw Strong Woman for the first time this season, and she was uncharacteristically quiet during the faculty meeting. I’d like to see how PC Principal’s transition to ‘Power Christian’ principal has affected their relationship. Is she more of a trad wife now?”

“My theory is this season is going to be ‘split’,” added a third. “First five episodes will have this story arc and it will be wrapped up with Episode 5. There will be a break for a few weeks and then the next five episodes will be the boys and their everyday antics.”
