FacebookA star of the new Netflix documentary Twister: Caught in the Storm was reported missing two days before the official premiere.
Tara Fleming, who appears in the new documentary about the 2011 tornado Joplin, Missouri, went missing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, according to her ex-boyfriend and father of her two children Steven Weersing (via Daily Mail).
Both Fleming and Weersing are set to star in the upcoming Netflix doc, with the couple having been brought together after attending high school together when the 2011 Joplin tornado hit – one of the deadliest in U.S. history.
A missing persons report was filed on March 17, 2025.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Weersing wrote: “If anybody or any of Tara’s friends have seen or heard from Tara please let me know. I had to file a missing persons report cause I got a very alarming and distressful call this morning she was in Tulsa and was robbed of her phone purse and car and was very scared.
“And the few people that was with her when it happened are being very suspicious and isn’t making any sense. Switching up story’s and haven’t seen her. So if anyone sees her or hears of her could you please let me know or let someone know.”
FacebookWeersing was severely injured in the 2011 storm, having been placed in a medically induced coma for three weeks and developing a flesh-eating infection in the aftermath. A romance between the two developed after Fleming supported him through his recovery.
The documentary examines the 2011 disaster, which killed 158 people and injured 1,000 more.
The couple were together until 2017, when Weersing was reportedly charged with second-degree domestic assault, allegedly having choked Fleming during an argument.
Weersing’s new girlfriend, Lena Dawn, also posted about Fleming’s disappearance, writing on Facebook: “Has anyone seen or heard from Tara Fleming! She was last known to be in the Tulsa OK area. She has an active missing report case and said she was last known to be ‘walking’ in the Tulsa area but did not have a location.”

Later, Weersing took to Facebook to report that Fleming had been found, but that she was stuck in Tulsa and was unable to get back to Joplin.
Twister: Caught in the Storm is now available to stream on Netflix.
