The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is expected to introduce Rosalina, but if you’ve seen her design online, you may have been duped by a convincing fake.
After several teases in the first film (the Luma, Princess Peach saying there are “lots of galaxies out there”, the Galaxy book), the long-suspected sequel will officially adapt both Super Mario Galaxy games – with a few surprises from across the franchise.
It may take an unconventional approach to the story (Wario has been rumored to appear, despite him not being part of the original games in any capacity), but there are a few non-negotiables. It has to include several tracks from the soundtrack (if there’s no ‘Gusty Garden Galaxy’, we riot), and Rosalina has to appear.
The question is, who will play her, and what will she look like? Right now, here’s the official answer: we don’t know.
That Rosalina leak from Super Mario Galaxy Movie is fake
While the supposed leaks have been shared in multiple posts, a video shared on X/Twitter with several alleged designs from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has been viewed over three million times.
Unfortunately, it’s not real – but it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster since they emerged. While one of the renders definitely originated from Awesome3D (they even wrote, “The Mario ones are edited versions of renders I made”), Avovet3D originally claimed to be behind the Rosalina design.
“Not to spoil the fun but someone from a server I’m in just decided to leak my fan model lol,” they wrote with a screenshot of a black-and-white Rosalina render.
However, they later said: “I lied to you all for the love of the game I sculpted this based on the leak it’s probably real.”
So, is it real? No, because another online creator is responsible: DahJuanPa, who admitted that he found the image of Rosalina online (presumed to have been designed by someone else) and used AI to give her different expressions. “I hope Nintendo doesn’t throw the lawsuit at me,” he said.

DahJuanPa also wrote that he never expected the images to go viral. “I thought maybe 10 people would see it,” he tweeted.
So, in short: they may look convincing, and there’s every chance that Rosalina could look similar in the film, but these aren’t the movie’s real designs.
There has only been one convincing leak so far: an alleged image of a Jakks Pacific prototype for Bowser Jr. It’s worth noting that Bowser Jr is in the first game, so it was already broadly presumed that he’d be in it.
