Underrated Taylor Sheridan sequel is coming to Netflix in April 2025

Getting bored of the Duttons? Taylor Sheridan’s underrated sequel is coming to Netflix very soon, and you’ll likely have already seen the original movie.

It’s easy to forget how many movies Taylor Sheridan has worked on, and successful ones at that.

From Hell or High Water to Wind River, the Yellowstone creator has cemented himself as a leading voice in award-nominated neo-Westerns.

One of his other movies, Sicario, rose up the charts when it arrived on streaming at the beginning of March, so it makes sense that the sequel should now get the same chance.

Sicario 2 is coming to Netflix on April 1

Sicario made a smash return when it arrived on the streaming service earlier this month, and now the chart-topping thriller is being followed up by the 2018 sequel, Sicario: Day of the Soldado.

The first crime drama proved to be a hit when it was released in 2015, and Sheridan returned to pen the script for the sequel, which was directed by Stefano Sollima.

Sicario 2: three men holding guns

Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin returned for the second movie, which follows FBI agent Matt Graver and Alejandro Gillick as the latter kidnaps the daughter of a infamous kingpin in order to escalate rising tensions amid border wars.

While the sequel wasn’t as highly-regarded as the original action movie, it’s still well worth watching if you’re going through a Taylor Sheridan marathon.

Sicario 2 serves as a nice break from Sheridan’s TV takeover, which over the last few months has included Lioness Season 2, Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2, Landman, and 1923 Season 2.

The release of the sequel also follows reports that Sheridan’s upcoming feature Fast (which has been in development since 2018) may replace star Chris Pratt with 1923 alum Brandon Sklenar.
